This is why people are losing respect for the police...

Doesn't even speak english!

I guess he only needs to know two words in English; "Big Issue" for when he's stood outside Tesco.

It's great when we have middle-aged people coming here for low value jobs, they only contribute a tiny amount of tax and NI before costing us six figures in NHS care, social care, retirement home fees etc.

I thought it would be up to the court and/or prosecution dept to sort out a court translator, not the police

If a suspect is remanded in custody by the police to attend court it's up to the police to book an interpreter as the court will likely be closed at the time that decision is made. For subsequent hearings it's up to the courts to make arrangements.

The police can still make a booking that the language service may struggle to fulfill however....

He's not gonna get deported though is he?
some left kier starmer type lawyer will argue it's against his human right to deport him and he's entitled to a family life in the UK.

labour will probably build the family a brand new home fully fitted with all the furniture and trappings the middle classes are used to.

if a native wants to bring in a partner from abroad however you are expected to be able to fully fund that persons life and their visa is dependant on that.
you need to be earning 29k a year with 0 state benefits

if kids are involved its even more
You need to show you and your family have enough money to house and support yourselves without relying on additional public funds. The caseworker considers your income and housing costs
I wonder what percent of brits earn less than 29k , I'd imagine it's a pretty high percent

Economic immigrants need to start seeing it as privilege to be here, keep your garden and street clean, be good friendly people and get a JOB.
None of them ever seem grateful of thankful to be here... just any excuse to blow a fuse, it's like they hate the country so why come?

There's no reason anyone from eastern Europe etc should be here without a job lined up full stop.

They should be told once they are here for longer than 6 months that there will be no translators offered..... and their benefits should be dependent on them actually learning English... if you can't speak it you can't really work and live here can you...

Shoulda gone to a country that speaks your language like the rest of us would... no doubt th ey don't offer such lucrative benefits and housing though

learn the lingo or be deported... and before anyone brings it up, spain should do the same to brits too

I assume they have interpreters to help them get all the benefits they are 'entitled' to...
Saying that I still have little doubt that he can speak English when he wants to. Anecdotally I used to work with someone who struggled with English and 'didn't understand' when he ****** up and was getting a bollocking but spoke perfect English at his other job ;)
Isn't there a rule for foreign nationals that if you serve x amount of time in prison then you get deported on release?
