This is why people are losing respect for the police...

For being dressed like that? Totally acceptable

Very commendable policing, that's the way to do it :)

Yeah, such an accepatable response for getting a tiny slap on the wrist indeed. I think it says a lot about that cop and even more about the kind of people like you who think this is acceptable.

How many people die from one single punch? Would it have been OK had that person died as a result?

It's people like you that are the problems in society, not some person deciding to dress up how they like. I bet that without even seeing that video the only reason they were "arrested", was because those ******** cops just didn't like the look of them.

So was a video ever released

When will the video of the incident be released?

City officials have promised transparency, including the public release of the footage of the beating. But the timing for that remains unclear. It could be an additional week, at least, the family’s lawyers said. Other details are also uncertain, such as how much footage is being released and whether it is only from the officers’ body cameras or includes other sources.

It seems there are two faces to "deciding to dress up how they like". This scenario when some transvestite assaults a police officer and gets a well deserved and swift retaliation, and the likes of members of the British Royal Family in fancy dress as Hitler, much to the amusement of fellow fancy dress wearers. Or a current Canadian Prime Minister who has decided to black up so many times he cannot recall the number, nor all the events where he did so.

Why are you so sensitive to the transvestite scenario, do you perhaps have a horse in the race? Why is this man getting a swift dose of justice so terrible, yet Prince Harry and Justin Trudeau suffering long and bitter recriminations from the left wing media were deemed fair game and OK? They didn't even assault a police officer...

Has anyone ever thought that? :p

Sure, people with aptitude and intelligence will (should) rise to the higher ranks, but your average rank and file are nothing special.

Whenever a police officer is found to have ****** up there are always plenty of people who seem to hold them to massively different standards to the rest of the population. Like there should be some sort of infallible test when they join up that will weed out the bad eggs.

As police officer are representative of society then, unfortunately, they represent the smartest and dumbest of society as well.

Before anyone mentions entry tests, it's quite plausible for some people to be book smart but still dumb. All the tests do is measure basic language and number skills.

That depends on the entry test, psychometric testing is supposed to test for intelligence/potential. Being book-smart is irrelevant, it's not about knowledge.

In most jobs that require straight up intelligence you get the people you pay for. Our society values intelligence in salaries quite highly so if you aren't paying a lot of money they you are likely to lose the best people to other careers. Policing has never been that well paid and its a pretty thankless job.

I find it strange that people think we will have the brightest or best in the police.

You shouldn't need to be among the best and brightest to figure out how to solve the issue with searching CCTV footage for the moment a bike is stolen, especially if someone has literally just explained how to do that over the phone.

Whenever a police officer is found to have ****** up there are always plenty of people who seem to hold them to massively different standards to the rest of the population.

They should be held to a different standard.

Nichols video could prejudice any prosecution so don't see that happening , Floyd video arguably divisive - coincidentally V

A lawyer for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin made his case on Wednesday for why his client's three convictions in the murder of George Floyd should be overturned, which the state vehemently rebutted.
Speaking before a three-member panel on the Minnesota Court of Appeals, lawyer William Mohrman argued that extensive pre-trial publicity made it impossible for Chauvin to get a fair trial in 2021 and said the main remedy they are seeking is a new one

The police haven't got enough people or hours in the day. I imagine that its just an excuse to avoid having to do it at all. Any time they can ignore a minor crime that isn't a priority they will do it. As a cyclist its well known that if you submit footage of a driver nearly killing you to some forces it will just get ignored. They won't even bother or they will send back a polite letter along the lines of "not enough evidence" despite it being very obvious. They don't have the time or the will. Its not a capability issue.

They should be held to a different standard.

They already are but the overreaction to anything they do wrong is ridiculous. Theres ~140,000 officers in the UK. You will get quite a few dodgy characters in any group that large. Add in a job that isn't paid super well but gives people power over others and you will get some bad eggs. We can't hold them to an impossible standard. When they **** up they should be punished appropriately but the hand wringing and painting more than a tiny minority as bad is stupid and counter productive.

Because the issue is proportional response.

That situation did not warrant punching someone that hard without any warning. The fact you now start some utter nonsense about “me having some horse in the race” implying I’m gay or a tranny says more about your clear hatred and bias.

The response from that police officer was massively disproportionate and is not remotely defensible. You not liking “trannys” or lefties (because you idiotically assume all trannys are lefties) does not make that behaviour an acceptable.

You are a vile contemptible excuse for a human being if you find that was a perfectly sensible act of warranted violence, by a so called respectable member of law enforcement.

This would be frustrating, surely, as a police officer, if your job involves reviewing CCTV at least semi-regularly you shouldn't be this naive?

Like you shouldn't need to be a Cambridge computer scientist to figure out that if you have say 48 hours of CCTV footage and you're trying to see a bike being stolen then you don't need to press play at the start and watch all 48 hours... you could likely find the bike being stolen within a few seconds if digital or minutes if tape. You don't need to know the exact time the incident happened, it makes almost no difference to the ability to review the tape and this would be super intuitive even to say a school kid using youtube and wanting to skip to where something specific happens.

Instead, the individual involved apparently won't listen to reason or apply any common sense and has gone with "compute says no".

Depending on where the theft occurred, police often have to provide quite specific dates/times when requesting CCTV. It's not that they think they need to view the entire footage but that they need to know when to request otherwise "CCTV provider says no".

or you fast forward at +64 until bike disappears then reverse at -32 .. like you would on typical DVR machine to find where you are up to. .. rather a ridiculous tweet to deride the intelligence of police;
generally if you explain something to someone and they don't understand you are at fault for not explaining clearly
(I do use the quick sort algorithm in the crockery draw.)

Took 6 or so days!

George Floyd was not big news in mainstream media until the video was released. The video for this hasn’t been released yet. It’s meant to come out tomorrow at midnight (uk time)

I’m not claiming it will get as much attention as George Floyd but it is a big story and will get lots of press attention.

Guilty as charged.... :)

Oh I can assure you that people like you being proud of your vile behaviour while thinking it’s funny is no surprise to decent people everywhere.

I don’t get angry with people like you and your pathetic trolling attempts don’t actually annoy me. They are typical behaviour for those who lack any human decency. I feel pity that you are so oblivious that you have no likeable traits yet feel pride. I try hard to teach my child tolerance and decency. It’s a pity your parents failed to do the same for you.

What my parents and teachers did generally impart was assaulting a police officer whilst dressed as a transvestite nazi was probably neither going to be wise nor in my best interests.

But I'll leave it to you to demonstrate how dressing exactly as you wish, anywhere at all, and reacting violently to any interference from police officers is your inalienable right :)
