This is why people are losing respect for the police...

You were offended on behalf of others which I always find bizarre but par for the course these days.
I actually cant fathom how stupid you are being, but I shouldn't be surprised.

Why not go back and read my initial statement in here before you come in with your goose steps and judgement of others beliefs.

Or maybe just calm down and read my posts carefully.

regardless this is getting OT (and boring)..

I didn't see anyone get offended, it was simply highlighted to you that your instant and irrational tirade against the left was unwarranted.

I think you posted this story in some vain hope it would trigger the "lefty woke" crowd. Yet when it was clear that wasn't happening, you decided to concoct what you perceive to be "typical lefty woke" strawman that you could go on your pointless tirade against anyway. All you have achieved is every rational person thinking, "what a numpty".

I am woke and proud of it because it means I am tolerant and a nice person. I also think that 11-year old get got what he deserved and the Police response was both proportional and warranted.

I don't think anyone has much issue with the police using a taser against someone with a knife, it's only when the police start to use it as a default against unarmed people, or play "games" with the taser that most people will have an issue with it.

Far better than the old turnchion/batten, or an officer getting cut/stabbed, and pretty much why they are issued in the UK.
Use taser, get someone disarmed, stop using taser, it's only when they continue to use the taser repeatedly when someone is already on the ground that most people will have an issue as at that point it's usually being done for punishment/fun rather than any need (and one of the differences between the UK and US, in the UK you need to justify the taser use and continued use).

I didn’t post any story so, as I suggested to the other poster, read the thread more carefully.

lol using ‘nice and tolerant’ in the same comment as got ‘what he deserves’ is brilliant :D

Stop being a total clown. Its embarrassing to witness.

Yes you can be tolerant and nice to others, see the good in people and want to improve everyone's life and not just your own, whilst also being able to identify someone threatening others with a knife and their need to be shot with a taser.

Interesting, that's not the 1st time I've seen someone who is 'woke' describe themselves as being a nice person. It's almost like you are saying someone who isn't 'woke' can't be a nice person, now I don't know about you but labeling a massive % of the population as 'not nice' isn't a very tolerant or nice thing to say :p

Still inventing strawmen I see. Your "story" was the made up tirade about that kid only using the knife to eat his dinner. I was NOT referring to the actual original post with the link to the news article. You are assuming tolerant means weak and never taking action. But tolerance is simply being fair, reasonable and only acting when necessary and in a proportional manner.

Is it nice to take the side of unlimited scope of the law to any situation to arrest people who have the misfortune of merely standing next to someone else?

Nice illogical leap there. I never said someone who isn't "woke" is a bad person.

I think a lot of problems come down to people not understanding the law.

There's a difference between arrested and detained. Often being next to a suspect the police will detain that person to check they are not part of it then let go and be on there way.

The problem you have is do you ignore that person standing there and let them go potentially risking future issue should that individual also be carrying say a knife and being part of the situation or detain and check.

The issue is it's a lose lose situation whatever the police do they will be wrong. If they let someone go without investigation they will be criticised for not checking, if they check and they're not involved they will be criticised for that.

Cooperation is the best way but then people don't want to do that either because reasons.

Weirdly I find them to be the most bigoted people going. Tony 'you're a racist' Edwards being the best example of this going.
Your last line confirms that you fit the trend.
mate, C Kent is not romantically interested in you (AFAIK, I dont want to assume or mis-identify C Kent's sexual orientation and relationship status), when are you going to stop trying to impress him?
Its rather boring seeing you leap to any of his responses in a way that is identical to a cheerleader.

You still upset after I turned you down? Move on.

Run out of things to say now that you'll just repeat my own words back to me? How original and mature.

What can we say, flies like to hover round ****, hence why some of you are in here daily to cheer lead each other.

The lack of self awareness in your posts is pure gold.

Anyway it seems everyone agrees with the police's action so a rare example of consensus in GD - good job everyone.
