Thorney Motorsport

Primary issue for me really would be just how that car was let out the door in that state.

Yes of course there's a dozen other factors - he said this, she said that, solicitors getting involved etc - all rather unpleasant, but none of that would have happened if that car had seen some proper quality control.

Well that was the point, it didnt leave like that. However it wasnt as good as we are capable of and that was wrong of us.

Threaten to sue OcUK and then come back ages later to try and explain... Wrong way around!!

Still, I'm glad that you managed to get an account and put your side across. Obviously there is so much negativity about your company out there that you couldn't possibly address it all but at least there is some balance in this thread now.

and lets not forget tesco 99, tested by thorney, giving upto 80% more mpg lol

Got a link to the fuel thread? That was a total classic.

You're right, I certainly handled it badly mainly as I was very upset about what was said, my reaction was based on "this isnt true, its not fair, stop people talking about" and what I should have reacted was "find the issue, sort it and then let the truth come out (as it always does)" I learnt that lesson. The whole eposide has probably cost us hundreds of thousands of pounds but since it happened I have withdrawn from all forums and let our work speak for us. We get things wrong of course but we deal with this directly.

Glad you've managed to look back and figure out what could have been done better, its never nice when someones posting bad things about your company but sending out legal threats never works, the internet is a strange place to do business, word spreads fast and hard won respect and credibility can be wiped out overnight.

Interesting read.

And I think this is the point - customers don't always get the service they pay for and companies don't always work to the best of their ability. To be able to sit down and sort things out amicably is the only solution. Threats and lawyers will only end in misery and lost business.

It has to be said though, once there is bad feeling out there, many potential customers will steer clear and find a business without the attached stigma.

Fair play for coming on here to set the record straight. If you have learned your lesson (regarding how to handle customers and getting in the lawyers) and the quality of your service is back upto scratch, people will come back to you.

I forgot about that!

Would be great to hear how they managed this, straight from the horses mouth.

EDIT:
Audi TT 2.0T
95 RON - 35.55
99 RON - 41.67

Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Breeze
95 RON - 36.65
99 RON - 42.75

Are they claiming that a 78bhp Vauxhall Corsa Breeze 1.2 gets only 1.1mpg more than an Audi TT 2.0T with 210bhp? And are they also claiming that a Mercedes C180 Kompressor gets 96MILES (!!) extra out of a tank of Momentum 99 rather than standard Tesco's fuel.

Whilst it's good that Thorney has attempted to get his experience across, the pictures don't lie. The work was awful. But if the mechanics have been sacked then fair enough.

Thing is, rightly or wrongly, and truthfully or not, duff work in these cases always gets blamed on the "mechanic that no longer works there".

It's an anonymous, silent scapecoat which is often used for black bag carpet sweeping exercises.

Not saying this is what old Thorney has done here mind.
