Tomb Raider Thread

Well I decided I deserved a treat today , so it was either Crysis 3 , or tomb raider . I opted for TR , and am not disapointed , at all . What a great game , it looks gorgeous . I'm about 2 hours in and plan to sit here until the early hours .
I think in a few places I had a little semi , I have never understood when people say a cartoon / game character is hot until now , my god in 3d her jubblies are just jubbly...

I'm playing at 1080 with it near enough maxed out on all settings , my little work horse of a 7850 oc'd @ 1100 / 1250 , and the never hit 60 ,it is , as usual taking it on the chin , no idea on frame rates , I forgot to run fraps, cpu 3570 never above 50 .

Well i found out what was my crashing problem, It was my overclocked 7970 i lowerd it by 50Mhz and its been fine since..Strange how its stable on every other game i play at 1250 core:confused:

Was the same with Farcry 3, the game pushes the card more. Both that, Crysis 3 and TR make my 7950 noticeably hotter (or at least try to until my fans kick in and keep it in check)

Give it some more voltage and it will be fine :p

Id love to give more voltage but as i have a quite compacked case i dont really want the extra heat

Im not to botherd losing 50mhz on the core to he honest, I still get a average of 60fps on ultra settings @1080p ;)

Have sunk 24 hours into the game so far and I've still not completed the main story.
Every time I get an upgrade I'll go back to the beginning and find all the extras.
An utterly captivating game. :)

Bit of this here too :p
I'm getting warnign popping up now saying the area has been "hunted out" and kills now give little XP lol

I keep trying to do that, but then think "I'll just see what this next bit of story is..." and never go back :p.

Do you only get the map that shows you the collectable locations once you have found the Tomb in that area?

The "hunted out" message appears when you clear out all of the big animals from an area, which tends to happen quite easily in the earlier levels.

Most of the maps are in the reward chests in the tombs, but a couple of areas do have maps that are lying around.

I think I might go back and clear the past areas before completing the story. I think I've got everything that I would need to get into all the areas...

Just completed it in under 8-9 hours with 90% collectibles etc. It has everything a good game should do but there was simply no challenge in it what so ever. That was definitely not the tomb raider I knew and loved and I had solved the story within an hour in of what exactly would happen.

This would have been fine for a generic summer blockbuster film but it doesn't do the originals justice at all! 6/10 from me!

What difficulty do you play it on?

Played it on hard, after playing the likes of CODs/BF/Uncharted this was just too easy to predict how things would turn out in fights and the puzzles could be done with my eyes closed.

Don't get me wrong, it had everything there but it was hyped up too much for me and what I got out at the end was nothing different from the tomb raider films

Check the usage, probably find it peaks more with this game.

Yeah my GPU useage is mostly 99% with this game and overclocking usually produces 1:1 percent framerate rise with clock speed increase - so it will likely expose any weaknesses in an overclock.
