Tomb Raider Thread

just finished this, pretty good game - nowhere near excellent or even up to the standard of uncharted but its a decent game nethertheless.

the puzzles were simple, shooting was way to much and generally its a pretty linear game - fast travel is next to pointless unless you want 100% and then even then thats a mega chore. the tombs were cool for the most part although so so short!

I think I prefer underworld and do think thats the better game than this, but will be interesting to see what/if they do in the next game.

pc port pretty good, although the hair is a fps killer. I tried to play a bit of MP but its dead so no point.

I just got around to playing this weekend, I am absolutely stunned at how good this game looks in 3D Vision, it's absolutely gorgeous! Been a while since i've played something that's absorbed me as much without getting bored, great game.
 
Finished it off tonight. Will certainly go back to get the final 15% I missed.

Hopefully they do a more adult Lara tomb raiding game! I loved this. a lot.
 
Guys would you recommend playing this with the Keyboard and Mouse or with a 360 controller?

Depends what your used to, theres only a single digit percentage of the gameplay where it actually needs a controller the rest is suited well to keyboard and mouse tho doesn't work as well as it could due to implementation fail. Its a lot less like earlier tomb raiders where it was far more suited to a controller.
 
No SP expansions :( Shame.

As for the controller, its entirely down to personal preference as both work fine (few minor issues on the keyboard for some). I decided to play this on my TV sat on my sofa, so used a pad. Had I played it at my desk I would have used the KB and mouse.
 
I'm playing it with an xbox controller although the aiming is a chore, probably more because i'm not used to using one.
 
It's an alright game, just not Tomb Raider IMO. Too many sections (by far) where you're funnelled. Really reminds me of this

We have just made public a new version of the PC version of Tomb Raider, build 1.0.730.0. This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

New fixes in 730.0:

• Upgraded the save slots from three to 99
• Introduced “Last Campsite Save”, which automatically saves your progress up to the last campsite you have visited
• Added stereoscopic 3D reticle
• Fixed issues with the discovery of the Unworthy campsite.
• Fixed a problem that occurred when traveling back to the Sacred Hall Basecamp after that story has been completed
• Fixed a playthrough stopper in Chasm Bridge
• Fixed a playthrough stopper that could occur when loading a saved game created in the Coastal Forest after upgrading the axe but before opening the gate
• The active selection in the main menu no longer changes due to the rotation of the menu itself
• Fixed Mouse and Aim Sensitivity slider settings getting rounded to coarser values on save
• Fixed a crash in multiplayer that could occur while migrating hosts
• Added functionality to activate and deactivate DLC multiplayer maps during matchmaking. Maps can also be manually activated and deactivated in the new ‘Match Making’ menu in the ‘Options’ menu.
• (DX11) Fixed a few self-shadowing artifacts in the beach
• (DX11) Various performance optimizations
• (DX11) Improved sunlight shadow quality
• (DX11) Lens flares now render correctly in stereoscopic 3D
• (DX11) Improved exclusive fullscreen <-> windowed transitions
• (DX11) Fixed occasional crash on startup related to stereoscopic detection
While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we made a Beta available on Steam, Build722.3, that can be used to switch back to the previous version. Please note however that you can only play multiplayer with people that share your version.

We are planning further patches beyond this one to address various issues that have come out of consumer feedback since the release of the game.

Surely they are excluding a massive number of sales through Steam?

But regardless, if it means its missed its targets then it means no sequel, or at least not one that they put as much effort into. :(
 
The games only been out 5 minutes and is already failing to meet expectations? CEO resigns ?

bit dramatic, what were they expecting...5m units in the first month \: ?

Square Enix need to be realistic. What did they expect from a dying franchise.
 
Eh lower expectation......when price will fall below 20€ or 15€, people will buy it still, even months after the hype....hell i started buying games over Steam even i played them already (p*r*t*ed ones shoot me :D).
 
IMHO it doesn't deserve to be the best selling TR anyway. They took all the tomb raiding out and replaced it with small single room raiding, QTEs and wore out my W, E and F keys :D
