Tower block fire - london

There are major and meaningful differences between print media and social media in terms of how and how much people's views are manipulated. Might as well say that a dialysis machine is no different to leeches of years before. And this from someone with a degree in media studies! :o

yes hence why I used the term " to an extent"

They still do to an extent but print based Newspapers are dying. And moving to an online model.

The Agenda still stays the same regardless of platform though.

By the way, I don't have a media studies degree.

She would be attacked whenever she did it. Immediately that it happened she would be being opportunistic. Too late, she's only doing it because she was made to. Didn't show up she doesn't care. Does show up she's faking. She's a widely disliked Prime Minister. There is no scenario in this circumstance where she would not be attacked by people such as yourself. None.

yes, and?

Let's hope the militants don't decide to try and trash the Royal Borough of Kensington on the Queen's official birthday. It seems there's another militant group sprung up calling to make this coming Wednesday a day of militancy, suggesting people pull "sickies" off work and bunk school to join a huge militant group in London. Happy days... The personal tragedies befallen residents of the ill fated Grenfell Tower are slowly being pushed aside as militancy and plain public disorder take centre stage in this ever more sensationalised and politicized arena.

Thing is May has been PM for less than a year, these problems are deep and have been going on since the early 2000s at least. Blair especially caused a lot of damage when he was in power. Cameron did little to try and improve things.

It's all going to boil over at some point and it looks like this fire could trigger it. When the working people are still poor, they have little to loose. The first to get it will be the leaders, then the fatcats.

The problem is that Blair is well removed from power after 7 years, and frankly blaming previous governments when you can easily fix their mess is infinitely less amusing. It was equally dumb when Blair did it when talking about Major/Thatcher.

How many governments are we going to go through before they just... do their ******* job?

Thankfully, 2019 is looking like an extremely awkward and uneasy year for people in this country.

10 years since he was PM actuallly now.

Labour were then in power 'til 2010

why is that something to be thankful about?

Unease breeds better answers, at least in my opinion.

The sad thing is that it doesn't look like there's any actual leaders in this country at the moment, say what you will about Angela Merkel (I have a choice opinion of her myself), but she's a damn good Leader.

(Though she has made some... mistakes of late)

Anyway, following the news on the BBC, it would appear that the council is still being useless, so much so that the victims representatives are trying to get them cut out completely.

I don't really understand why people want the Prime Minister to stand around talking to victims when she's the leader of the country, her time is better spent organising support and funds for victims rather than talking to them. No doubt if she had stood around for hours talking to people it would've been dismissed as a PR stunt when she should have been doing her job.

She literally can't win at the moment. She's well renowned for being a bit socially awkward and reserved, but the labour agenda has pushed her as uncompassionate and being a robot, it's like a certain section can't see past the top layer. It's one of the problems i have with American politics and politics in general, a smooth confident talker usually get's more votes, it doesn't matter whether they are the better person for the job.

True though it is still needed a bit over here... while politics shouldn't all be about persona/image (currently something Trump, Bernie and Corbyn have been milking rather well) politicians do need to have some personality, some ability to connect with people - at least those at the very top. The 'Maybot' is no longer just a government minister but is at the top and while I agree she'd have been criticised/heckled by a rent a mob type crowd whatever she did her lack of personality, inability to handle interviews/questions and basically communicate a bit more like a human being frankly isn't good.

Maybe she could be better in interviews and be a bit more charismatic, I don't think it should be as important as people seem to think it is though. She's sorted £5m out in funding for the victims and organised an enquiry. Those are the things that matter.

I wouldn't disagree completely, but i think it's comes down to confidence, she's obviously quite timid when it comes to publicity and interviews, it doesn't help that she's been told be her security advisors that she can't walk about because of the threat of physical violence, that definitely won't help her come out of her shell, it's just going to make her more uneasy. If you look at PMQ's though, where she has been a politician for a very long time, where she is obviously comfortable, the difference in her is crazy.

What I am trying to figure out atm is why the fire fighters couldn't get up to the top floors to help rescue and escort those trapped up there out. Guessing no vehicles exist with raising platforms that would go up that high? Too close to the fire? That single stair well was clogged in smoke and I read reports of first responders saying it was too hot to get through. I just can't figure it out.

I saw a few photo's of the highest platforms, they didn't go all the way to the top, this is why high rise blocks should have intelligent fire regulations, to stop these fires spreading. It's tragic and i hope someone is made accountable. I think we'll find out it was someone in the construction line that monumentally messed up, either that or the supplier not being honest.

Absolutely. On a side note, can't believe this is still up on their website: http://www.harleyfacades.co.uk/page/grenfell-tower-626
