I don't understand why people are precious about football teams fielding English players anyway. Yes, we need to improve at international level but that aside there really is zero reason as to why clubs should be forced to use X amount of home grown player. Do we force international banks to do the same thing, or do they just employ the best candidate for the role despite their background?

Init man. Pack it out with foreign mercs. im not precious i just thought it would be heartwarming to see.

I like Januzaj but.....

What does that actually mean? The next guy to have a promising first full season?

I guess people get worked up easily about promising players. He looks pretty good but nothing special yet. How many games as he actually started?

I think utds poor season has helped because he scored a few goals that were important. Just reflects badly on those in the team if the new youth player is out shining them.

Wasn't sure where to put this, the previously 86million Neymar is now basically 100mil(so far) as Barca have paid an additional 13mil in tax to the spanish government.

So Neymar is now pretty much the worlds most expensive player. Barca did all kinds of dodgy crap with this deal to try and make the transfer fee smaller and giving out money for all kinds of randomly made up things so they could pay less tax, pay Santos a smaller share, etc. Neymar/his family seem to have gotten something in the region of 50mil themselves, Santos only got something like 17mil for the player but 8mil a pop or something for first choice on a few youngsters(this is a way to bump the price and have it not be part of the transfer value but I don't know if said youngsters are actually worth anything at all, I would guess the value of first choice option on these players has been overstated by a large degree ;) ).

After being charged with tax fraud Barca have paid an extra 13mil or so.... even though they are totally innocent... just to avoid any future problems.

Much like Messi/his dad paid a whopping sum of money when put up on tax fraud charged despite being totally innocent, it was just a nice gesture.... lol

Who knows how much Neymar will end up costing once every last case is dealt with. Santos still want to sue the crap out of Barca as they obviously thought their share of the deal was 17mil on 50 odd, now it's more like 100mil they clearly think their share should have been WAY higher.

The €86m included Neymar's signing on fee and all agent fees though. I'm sure once you add signing on fees and agent fees to Bale's (and probably Ronaldo's) transfer fee it's still more than Neymar's.

"Charged"

It certainly looks dodgy especially now Barca have paid that sum back....the trial should still go ahead and if found guilty there should be jail terms and transfer bans. They can't surely allow a club to get away with tax evasion ...

I know, it's not like that the big Spanish clubs have beeen inloved in scandal with the goverment before:D

Why would they pay £11.2m to authorities if they believe they are innocent? are they trying to brush the whole thing under the carpet?

Would to see this guy on UTD but don't see it happening so soon after him joining Roma and being their best player.

Benatia is Man Utd's top target

Roma centre-back Mehdi Benatia is Manchester United's priority target this summer.

Wouldn't mind seeing Alex Song at UTD. Anyone to help out in midfield right now is a must.

I think an RVP arsenal return now hinges on whether or not Moyes stays at Man U.

RVP doesn't want to play for him, simple as. His goals pretty much won the EPL for Utd last season and he is rewarded with the boss going back on his word (leaving), replacing him with a donkey and then watching as Rooney's salary goes though the roof.

Arsene has a major track record in bringing back old players. If Arsene believes this could win Arsenal the title, I would cheer him back on the field and wouldn't be whinging about the way he treated us. As far as I'm concerned, it was our fault in the first place.

Out of interest, if he's demanded a move, what do you reckon his fee would be? I say between 12 and 15m.
