I think he's more box to box than those, he's younger than Rooney, better than Kagawa and gets through more work than Mata. He's more a manyoo player than Mata IMO.

Paper talk suggests his worth is close to that of Mata too.

Coleman has had a great season but it remains to be seen whether he can continue that form. He's been much better than Rafael this season.

All round on Nick?

Don't you dare, he knew Moyes wouldn't be any good...............him and thousands of others.......you know because he knows something about football.

Tell us more about how **** David De Gea is and how we should have signed Stekelnberg.

Wasn't I on ignore or something anyway.

My concern with se gea if you remember is that he was wonky to begin with and if he did become good would go back to la liga leaving us in a position where we paid 20 million for a keeper who we needed to play through his errors ( which his first two seasons were quite error laden) we've now had about a good season and a half out of him. If he leaves in the next two years then I would have been proven right. But that is still in the air as it could happen.

Like Moyes could have come good next year, we are too big a club to have to play players we know aren't ready. Which we did. Look at chelsea and thibault. They don't play him as their no1. De gea isn't or wasn't much better yet we chose to play him ( to our detriment) instead of buying a proven and ready keeper.

I would say at this point he's about the same as Kagawa, but with the potential to be even better if/when he keeps improving.

If he can play box to box though then I would take him.

You'll probably think I'm mad but I don't think Rafael's too far off being a decent player. A manager who can sort out his temperament and keep him improving and I think he'll be decent.

Manchester United set to beat Chelsea in £30m deal for Luke Shaw

Manchester United are convinced a £30m deal to buy Luke Shaw on a £100,000 a-week salary is virtually complete in what is viewed as a major coup over Chelsea, with the sacked David Moyes largely responsible for convincing the Southampton left-back to spurn the club he supports.

The prospective transfer would make Shaw English football's highest ever paid teenager and provides a boost for United in the wake of the Scot's departure as the club embark on finding his replacement ahead of a summer in which they are intent on a spend of up to £150m on rebuilding the squad.

The £100,000 a-week, five-year contract, on offer to Shaw is a vast amount for an 18-year-old, and far greater than Chelsea are willing to pay. Once the west London club were informed of what United were willing to pay they decided to pull out of the race to sign him.

The proposed personal terms would see him placed well above the bracket of Adnan Januzaj, who when agreeing a fresh five-year contract at Old Trafford last autumn received a salary of around £60,000 a-week.

Hope so!

If we get Shaw we're pretty much sorted for a LB for the next 10-12 years, great bit of business if we can pull it off.

Shaw's good and I would love to have him at chelsea. But £30mil and £100k a week is a bit steep.

I mean, Hazard was £30mil!

English tax.

That and the fact that good LB's are hard to come by, if we didn't pay it, Chelsea or City would without question.

First time I've properly watched Shaw was at the game against Villa last weekend. Excellent defensively, quick....but can't cross for toffee! How many players do we need who can't cross? He must have got in behind the Villa defense 5/6 times and every time he managed to miss every single Soton player in the box :( My mate's a Soton fan and said while he's a good player he'd snap our hand off for £30m

He is only 18 though, that can be worked on. Being able to defend is the important bit to start with. :p

It's certainly an odd one. Perhaps Martinez sees something in him the rest of us have missed. You'd have to trust he knows what he's doing, but £8m off Kenwright wouldn't leave much more for other moves and they still need a Lukaku replacement.

Cleverley is not anything like as bad a player as people make out, he simply wasn't United standard (although he probably is now ;))
