I meant by a new man coming in.

Imagine Mata's face if Mourinho does move :D

Well if it's Van Gaal I can't see RvP going anywhere, the only person that really needs to worry about a new manager coming in is Rooney, the new man might now be afraid to drop him.

I think there's a possible problem brewing if van Gaal comes in - I simply don't see how Rooney, RvP and Mata can all play in the same team. Of the three, the logical one to drop is RvP (age, Rooney's mammoth new deal, Mata's greater creativity in the hole), but van Gaal wouldn't do that. This means that one of Rooney or Mata will be sat on the bench.

That's the same problem for any manager that comes in.

Some chatter on twitter about Messi and Man Utd now the Barcelona transfer ban has been temporarily lifted.

Before my sides split open I'll add the other thing I've read is Cleverly to EFC.

Martinez has always liked Cleverly so it may not be as stupid as the majority will think.

Ah, but now you have a properly good keeper who will command a daft fee or be there for years and years.

I misread that at first as having a keeper who can command a team lol.

but yes we could sell him for a profit. Maybe. If we sold him for 40 milliom sure that's a 20 million profit. But was it worth sacrificing basically 2 seasons for the sake of 20 million?

In my mind we'd need him to stay and be outstanding for at least 2-3 seasons to have been a worth while expedition. It's pretty inconclusive right now whether that will happen.

300k /week on the bench

(I dont disagree with the sentiment though).

The one thing in Rooney's favour is that for the most part he has worked his *** off this season, no matter where he has been asked to play.

Not that Utd ever getting Messi is even remotely plausible of course - PSG is probably nailed on IF he were ever actually to leave Barca - but I guess Man Utd are the only team likely to afford him without FFP causing a huge issue (IF Fifa actually ever do anything to a major club of course)

Shaw would be a fantastic signing - we need a left full back with legs to defend asap ...while being better than Buttner (who I dont mind as a back up), which isnt hard of course. Price is meteoric but this summer its definitely necessary (wont believe it for a second until he is holding the shirt of course)

Dont see why Rooney and Mata cant play in parallel narrowly behind RvP with three "central" midfielders and two adventurous wing backs (admittedly I would prefer RvP sold, and Mata and Kagawa behind Rooney but with Van Gaal its pretty liekly RvP will stay).

this seems odd if true hope its not

but sounds like fergy , need to sort midfield? buy a striker

Been going around for ages - just cant see the point at all. Maybe a marquee signing (hasnt exactly worked out at PSG , although he has been played out wide a lot) but that amount of money shouldnt be spent on a striker at this point, absolutely crazy

Edit - Evra has been offered a new tnree year deal in the last few days according to early reports (would be incredible for a 32 yo to be given such a long extension by Utd, totally wrong way to go if true) - luca di marzio is original source

My god, so despite turning himself into a Goodison god in under a season he want's to sign that useless bag of skin. I let Kone slide because he did the decent thing and got injured but Cleverly, Jesus just give us Phil Neville back.

If you want to believe the express Martinez wants Welbeck as well lol

Sacrificed two seasons on De Gea?

First one they won the league. Second one no keeper could have changed.

Pretty sure his first season was bad and in his second we won the league. His first season was our europa cup journey after getting dumped out of the CL?

He was all on it in the press for getting battered about making mistakes, getting dropped for lindegaard.

Arguably we would have won the league that year with a good keeper in place.

But thanks for playing!

De Ge accepts criticism from press of shaky Manchester United start
• 'Even for a couple of mistakes, the press has a right to criticise'
• Spanish goalkeeper confident he can change perceptions
