73 points is the most it's ever taken to make the top 4 in a 38 game season, I strongly suspect that will be closer to 80 points this season. It won't be 89 points though.

Newcastle have signed their 7th player of the window!!!

Can somebody please tell me if I am dreaming here or if this is actually happening!!

It's actually quite funny. Yesterday during the Malaga game, they were speculating whether Ferreyra was going to be joining Newcastle. Today, he actually ended up playing for a bit! That must be the quickest anyone has gone from signing to playing for a new team.

“@GetFootballNews: Real Madrid have accepted a £20m bid from Arsenal for midfielder Sami Khedira. (Marca)”

Interdasting.

I thought they accepted the bid but it was the players wage demands that were the problem. That says little more than we knew a month ago.

Only way I see it happening is if RM drop his asking price so we pay him more or he drops his demands to more realistic wages.

I think if we can sign him and maybe say hummels, we will be golden. Though I would love for us to sell Monreal and get a better LB.

Khedira isn't a DM, and it shouldn't be overlooked that Real would prefer to sell than give him the kind of money he is asking.

Too many players who happen to be in a title winning team get tagged with the same level of greatness as the rest of the squad. Khedira is decent, but he basically plays like Ramsey, he's rarely great defensively and he sticks out as being at his best when he's running in to the box. However he's got a poor goals/shots ratio and isn't particularly special. better than Arteta, sure, best DM around, not even close.

He's okay but if we threw 150+k a week at him it would be because the manager/team that see him play/train every single day don't think he's worth it.

In the world cup his best 15 minutes was AFTER Brazil were 2-0 down and went to pieces, his best work was from the half way line to the opposition goal, not the defensive half. In the second half when Germany eased off and Brazil dominated possession, Khedira went missing, as did Kroos and outside of that 20 mins when Brazil were in utter pieces, they didn't do anything. They weren't heavily involved in the first two goals, winning the ball or pushing it forward. Schweinsteiger was truly excellent for them, Kroos and Khedira were lucky to be with much better players around them.

He's 27, just come off a very bad knee injury, wants a huge wage and isn't actually THAT good.

What this team needs more than anything is a central striker. Sanchez/Campbell aren't going to win loads of headers and fight toe to toe with strong defenders, they aren't suited to playing the lone striker in games like say against Chelsea. Giroud can't either because he's rubbish. In the tougher games Giroud looked completely inept, anyone can tap in from 4 yards, Sanogo showed as much yesterday, but when you need actual quality and might rely on the single guy upfront to pull out some magic or hold it up for ages... Giroud has proven over two seasons he isn't that guy.

A top notch striker and a quality LB would seriously improve the team. Chambers is likely to be covering multiple positions, it's possible he might be a great DM, or CB, or RB.... or he might be a bit poo in all those positions, too early to tell. Maybe we need to be moving on Arteta, and Cazorla and bringing in a DM to replace Arteta and Campbell to replace Cazorla. He's useless on the wing, doesn't have the pace or dynamic style to attack down the wing. He was great in the middle but we bought Ozil. We need to stop being sentimental. if he wanted to keep Cazorla he shouldn't have bought Ozil, but he did, and now Cazorla is being completely wasted and with plenty of other players able to play in the number 10 role should it be needed(Wilshire, Ramsey, Campbell, Podolski, Sanchez, Zelalem, Rosicky), all those other players are already starters or useful in multiple positions, Cazorla unfortunately isn't.

As DM said, Khedira is nothing special. Good player yes but he's not one of the best midfielders around by any stretch. Dont really know if Arsenal need him, they are stacked in midfield as it is they probably would be better off with a proper DM seeing as they have a lot of good midfielders already.

The fact that no new signings are incoming with the glaring holes in the squad, CM, RB (Valencia is SO bad) and CB makes me think Woodwards "We have the monies" is just smoke and mirrors. These are positions we have needed for years now yet never sign anyone.

A manager of LVG experience should be able to know this without assessing the squad.

Don't need a RB they will be playing 3 at the back
