Caudrado's agent is reported to be in Manchester tonight according to marca anyway (and copied by talksport / transfer tavern). £36m deal agreed according to them

Seems quite odd to me that no one else took a punt on Medel, great on the world cup, decent enough last season but in a terrible team. He can cover CB as well as DM, you'd think Utd could do with him, Arsenal as well, City need a capable CB still(though they can afford a more specialised CB). Considering the system he played well in, 3 at the back for Chile, you'd think that would also suit the likes of Utd. At 10mil even if he doesn't turn out great he's pretty cheap, could have turned out great.

If Inter bought him for something nuts like 25mil, sure, but at 10mil the lack of other interested parties seems.... strange.

Such a shame to see Vermaelen go. Very good player and seemed like a nice guy, unlike many other football players. Would have rather seen him play LB position and fill in CB when needed. We got good money for him considering he is injury prone though.

I wish him all the best at Barca.

I'm sorry to see him go, but he cannot be expected to be a backup at his stage of his career. LB would only be cover as well as Gibbs is markedly better in that position.

I feel he has regressed as well through injury and lack of first team action. It was a good time to move on. He ends his career as an FA cup winning captain, he gets a move to one of Europe's elite, we get a chunky £15m for him, and we dont strengthen our rivals.

Everyone's a winner. Bonne du douche.

If any of this is true, it's completely evaded the decent Manchester journalists again. The Fiorentina president has basically said he can leave if he wants to and for the right price.

Think he'd be a fantastic RWB though, looks a very dangerous player going forward at least.

Would prefer it if he was a bit cheaper, but if he's good it doesn't matter. I thought he was great at the World Cup - hadn't seen much of him before that, but it seems he had a great league season with Fiorentina.

Cuadrado ain't great defensively but I don't think he's any worse than Valencia lol. If United are playing attacking football he won't need to be back a lot of the time anyway as the RCB can come round to cover.

He played left side a bit too for Fiorentina.

Only problem with the RCB covering the right full back position is the big gap that will open in the defence. Be interesting to see how Van Gaal utilises the three CB formation.

Hindsight is always perfect though

He was just a reasonable but very arrogant prospect when he left

Absolute rubbish. Look at what he achieved the next season at Juventus.

Allowing Pogba to leave; not giving him time to develop at the club with more first team playing time, was an absolutely huge mistake. Sir Alex then came out and tried to blame the player, ensuring that Manchester United fans (there was one I took issue with over this earlier, possibly in this thread) turned on him.

I think he will turn out to be one of the bigger mistakes Sir Alex made in terms of personal, the one that got away. Pogba is a wonderful footballer.

Everyone makes mistakes, Pogba was just one of them.

I think that was me. Looking back now, I think I was a bit strong (although I think you thought I was referring to Pogba with the "c word" - which I was not) but at the same time he does come across as arrogant and about a mile up his own backside. Basically Balotelli but in a midfield package.

Yes, he's a great footballer but I wouldn't have him back at any price - I just think there's more to him than meets the eye.

so apparently we've agreed a deal for Cuadrado, apparently we're going to go for Vidal very soon and Marcus Rojo has followed a few united players plus the club on instagram(think it was instagram).

Would love for some deals to be completed...

He can play as RWB.

So you're saying this pre season alone we will have spent like 64 million on a left back and a right back?

I'm not hearing anyone saying we don't need him because rafael is mega. Although to utd fans on here last season rafael was seen as mega without a hint of injury proneness about him. But when we are about to blow 36 million on his replacement (despite cuadrado only ever having what could be classed as one half decent season in his career no one says anything? Lol.

anyway.. genuine question, has anyone noticed how much effort and how frantic shaw looks like when he's running but he is actually moving really slowly? It's like he's running in quicksand and straining every sinew?

Forster signs, decent addition as long as Boruc stays.

Unfortunately that was about the only position we didn't NEED to fill, this season at least.

We have 5 keepers in the first team squad now don't we? Someone surely won't be sticking around...

Still Forster will have his work cut out for him behind Yoshida and Fonte, compared to playing at Celtic where he could have sat on the bench in half the games and kept clean sheets.

I suppose it at least shows a bit of intent from the club if they're willing to pump 10 million into a position we're not weak in.

Hopefully soon we'll see the arrival of a couple more players in defence and midfield, maybe even another forward.

And look how good veron was in Italy before completely failing im two EPL teams ( and veron was even more highly thought of at the time than Pogba is now). Im sure most clubs have similar situations

Just because a player plays well in one country doesnt automatically mean he would have adapted the same way in another.

He is a good player who looks fantastic in Italy, you can only guess what he would be like over a full season in the epl as well as most likely being a royal pain in the rear
