Given how quietly Herrera was signed I suspect its just a matter of no leaks coming out,

If the reports are true regarding how many have been told they can leave over the weekend ( and of course from Utd's point of view this info leaking is a benefit) Utd HAVE to buy some players just to get through the season

If the axing rumours are true the one I find really unfair is Will Keane as he has barely had a chance to play in 1st team games. Even if he was kept for cup games I do find it strange if he is shown the door. Rafael could also be debated but imo with his injury record combined with his questionable tempramemt it was a matter of when rather than if.

Yeah, we do have to buy in order to cement getting back in the Champions League. Far from assured at the moment, despite being possible.

It's just strange, it's like nothing transfer related is happening aside from Vermaelen, and in fairness that could have mostly come from Arsenal's end (much of it did).

I hope something happens this week...

Agreed, the transfer market is pretty boring at the moment. I don't remember a previous season where there were so few actual transfers being made at this stage of the window, I guess it's because a lot of teams did their business early.

Daley Blind has stated that he'd be open to a move to United if LvG makes a bid. I'm really surprised LvG hasn't gone for a couple of the Holland defenders already, given that he knows they'd work in the 3-5-2 formation.

Here we go:

As of this morning the understanding is that #mufc have no interest in Juan Cuadrado...

So, take your pick - lying to the journalists, or, out of control baseless rumours from abroad...

We are really going to struggle with top 4 unless we sign a few more players in the next two weeks. Getting star players 2 weeks into the season is going to be tricky as hell I would imagine so I don't expect much of any note to happen after this week.

We have a squad plenty good enough to beat all the sides in the league bar our main 4 rivals but that doesn't mean we won't finish 5th. An injury to Herrera and we look **** again in the centre. I just don't understand us!

On a perfect day you are right we do have a good enough squad to beat 5 th down but how rarely can we actually put that team out in full fitness in Nov / Dec with niggles or worse affecting a bare bones squad is another matter entirely

The other question is how many players might the Glazers be "happy" about not registering if they cant be sold in time ( although I guess loans arent out of the question after the window closes)

Looks like Mangala has cost upwards of £42m, we paid around 30m for just 56% of him from Porto.

The rest was for the third party companies involved, that's why it has taken so long.

Huge fee but he has been a target for so long, the club are clearly very confident he will prove himself.

You guys need to stop panicking. We have until the 1st september (as the transfer window closes on a sunday this year)

We got berbatov on deadline day, there is nothing to stop us doing similar buying.

Nothing solid on any targets, no. :/

Vidal, Di Maria, Cuadrado, Blind are all 'possibles'...

If there aren't any signings soon I think we'll struggle, the worrying thing is with no quality wide players LvG has no choice but to play 352, while this gets Rooney, RVP and Mata in there best positions there will be games when our wing backs get pinned back or games that need opening up with wingers getting behind the opposition with the full back overlapping etc how long will it be before some fans get frustrated? especially with our history of world class wingers it may take some fans time getting used to this style of play

Heh - finally :p

£32m seems expensive for him to be honest, but he's still young and City can certainly afford it so no big deal I suppose. He'll make a good partner for Kompany.

it is a big fee but at the end of the day its a player in with hopefully a bright future.

UTD just need to do the same approach

We haven't had two world class wingers since the 90s :P

Glad we've finally got him albeit for a large fee. I do hope we keep hold of Nastasic as I think he's had a bit of a rough deal under Pellegrini and is still only 21 with bags of potential.

Would much rather we sold Boyata as I don't think he is anywhere near the quality of what's expected and never will be.

There is also Rekik, who I think a season on loan at a decent club where he is getting weekly football and he will be ready to push for a starting place.

its £42.9 Million for Mangala. Porto get 24.4m, third party owner Doyen recieves £14.2m and Standard Liege gets £4.3m.

Sweet jesus.
