Benatia was easily the best CB in Serie A last year. He's a top-class defender. Not quite up to the level of Hummels, Tiago Silva or perhaps Varane, but aside from that there's not really much above him. I'd take him over Mangala, who City just paid £43m for.

Thanks for update, not watched too much Serie A in recent years. So is it confirmed he has gone to Bayern ?

Nani has had enough chances under Fergie and Moyes to impress but he has never really grapsed the challenge. I don't think too many tears will be shed if he does leave this summer.

Out of interest who would you keep out of Young and Nani ??

I'd keep Nani out of the two.

I'm not opposed to Nani leaving, I'm opposed to us losing ridiculous amounts of players and not replacing them. We're going to leave ourselves absolutely ****** with a few injuries. The only reason Nani should be leaving over Young and Valencia is because people might actually want him.

No, not as far as I know. All just rumour at this point. Chelsea, Man U, Bayern or some combination of the above depending on which rag you open :p

Stopped reading after that point. Benatia IS very good. Him and Chiellini are the best two CBs in Serie A.

Whether or not he's worth the reported 35m is another matter but in footballing terms no question.

Yeah, all pro footballers are good at the end of the day..even Bendter. I meant in terms of £40m being quoted for him, i assume you did read the rest of my post, I said i hadn't seen Roma play that much. But i remember like day light top european clubs being touted with him at Udinese a few years back but all of them passed him up.

Boateng, tragic? He's been extremely good lately. Dante isn't bad either.

Javi Martinez is out injured for 6~ months, which has forced them to look for another player - Pep doesn't like buying proper defenders though... :p

Yeah, Martinez is out for 6 months, so i assume that's why these Benatia rumours are flying about..

LVG has lost the plot, sending out one of your better midfielders on loan. Moyes must be tearing his hair out..

Keep cleverly and fletcher and send Fell out on loan.. Nutter!

From the looks of things, I don’t think United should feel like this season they will immediately bounce back and make a sustained push for the League title.

Your be lucky to finish in the top four. LVG is going to need at least a season (if not more) to build a squad and teach them his way of football.

Reports coming in that Arsenal are trying to bring in Vargas on loan.

Not sure how I feel about this one.

He didnt look anything speacial when I watched him play for Chile.

Looking at wikipedia his club games/goals is poor. But he has 15 in 30 for Chile which is good by anyones standards.

Yeah neither of em are that great to be honest.

Bayern play with a high line to aid their pressing game but neither of them have the pace to be able to get back if a ball gets played in behind them. Although even as just out and out defenders, neither of them would look good in a team which has to do more defending. Remember Pep's Bayern are similar to Pep's Barca - they have so much of the ball that they don't have to defend a lot. And it's a good job as well with those two at the back! :D

Wasn't that big of a surprise losing to Swansea, the squad is weaker than at this point last year, no matter how good a coach LvG is all he is doing with these players at the moment is polishing turds, we have fell so far behind the rest of the top teams, city could field two teams that could win the league, and there's no way sticking to 3-5-2 long term will work, it's more that he's forced to use it due to only having 1 decent full back in shaw, no quality wingers, and overcompensating in central defence and midfield due to lack of quality, the only benefit is managing to cram in two strikers plus mata. I think back to the likes of keane, scholes, Stam, Ferdinand, Ronaldo, giggs, beckham even Gary Neville and realise how far we have fell off

I think you're alone in your love of Fellaini. I'd rather see him there than Cleverley and Fletcher though, at least Fellaini can offer something if we push him forward.

None of them are close to being good enough, I expect a central midfield signing of some sort, Daley Blind would be an improvement on all 3 of them (worst case scenario).

Don't love him more than the next guy, you united fans have hatred for him yet being the better out of your midfielders, says more about you than me really. He's a good player, just hasn't had any decent support since joining the club. Same with Moyes eh!

You've got to realise he isn't a 5ft8 player that can go past people in the middle of the pitch, he's not that type of player. That's not to say he's limited, because he has a decent touch for a big guy, got great fitness, can tackle, can header, perfect for the PL. No doubt, because he was 20 odd million, your'e expecting some type of flair player that can go past 3 lads in the middle of the park or something. Different players for different positions/situations..

He is not a good player. He is an average player that is well below average when played in a DM position and pretty much anywhere else other than higher up the pitch. Even then he is not a good player and we have much better in that position.

We don't have any particular hatred of him honestly, he is just a very good example of what has been going wrong with the club for years now. Players brought in who don't fit in the team and who are not right for the position they are played in and are ultimately not good enough for us.
