The fact they're successful in Japan and the fact they have Kagawa does not mean they wouldn't have been successful without him. Unless you can demonstrate that? How do other clubs do in the Asian market when they don't have Asian players (eg. Real/Barca/Liverpool)? He 'helped loads'? Can you substantiate that or quantify it, with evidence?

Yes

. The slight attacking midfielder’s arrival coincided with the departure of South Korean star Park Ji- Sung for Premier League strugglers Queens Park Rangers and saw him become the face of the 19-time league champions in Asia: a region which, according to the club, is home to some 325 million United followers.

Though the Red Devils’ numerous commercial commitments are likely to tie Kagawa’s hands somewhat in terms of marketing activity – particularly given the arrival of Japanese firms Kagome, Kansai and Yanmar as club sponsors since his signing – any company looking to tap into Asia’s burgeoning soccer market will rank United’s latest recruit at the top of its wish list. And there is scope for local activity: Kagawa was apparently allowed to sign a Japan-specific endorsement with Audi this year despite his team’s blockbuster global deal with Chevrolet.

any reason a player who barely plays for us modelled our new kit quite so prominently?

So Torres has cost Chelsea somewhere in the region of £90m over 3 years, £2m a goal. Plus whatever the loan costs them!
BUT WHAT ABOUT HIS MARKETING VALUE??
I doubt anyone really cares now.

Chelsea basically have Costa (with a dodgy hamstring) and 36 year old Drogba, and that's it as strikers??
Yep, getting rid of Torres hasn't harmed us in any way.

I still don't understand why they never gave Lukaku a chance, looking at how he did for West Brom and Everton he would have probably banged goals in for fun at Chelsea with the service he would've got and even if he's not the finished article he's still only young, a season alongside Costa & Drogba could have taken him to another level.

Lukaku didn't fancy the competition and wanted to be playing regularly as 1st choice somewhere so it was his decision to leave which is fair enough, you can't keep someone against their wishes.
Plus, I'm not sure JM actually thought he was 'good enough' anyway so didn't waste too much time persuading him to stay.

No chance. You'll be lucky if you get half his wages.

Some reports are now saying that he agreed to lower his wages so Milan pay all of it which if true means he's completely off the books.

Edit: That further supports what JM said that he wanted him to stay if the Club weren't prepared to assist his move financially.

I still don't understand why people assume that just because a player has success at a 'smaller' club, they would continue to take similar performances for a team who would 'create more chances' for them.

Lukaku looks exactly like the sort of player who wants (needs?) to be playing week in week out. If he had stayed at Chelsea, I don't think he's got the sort of attitude to deal with not necessarily having the manager's total faith.

Not suggesting that's a bad thing, some players are happy to bide their time at a club and show what they can do when they get their chance. Others prefer to just play regularly elsewhere and use that as an opportunity to show what they can do. Just depends a lot on your personality.

What's the value of the Kagome, Kansai and Yanmar deals? And the point is that if Kagawa wasn't the fan's choice then it'd be another player, arguably. If you start working in a car dealership where ten other people sell ten cars a month, .

Hmm, I've given you the evidence.

I don't even know where you are going with this post at all.

@MontpellierHSC announce an agreement has been reached with Spurs for the transfer of Benjamin Stambouli.

Montpellier say they have agreed to sell Benjamin Stambouli to Tottenham.

A statement from the French club confirmed a deal is in place for the defensive midfielder, who was linked with Swansea earlier this month.

Stambouli is now due to travel to London to have a medical and to finalise his contract, according to Montpellier.

If the deal goes through, the 24-year-old will become Mauricio Pochettino's sixth major signing.

Ben Davies, Michel Vorm, Eric Dier, DeAndre Yedlin and Federico Fazio have all arrived since Pochettino succeeded Tim Sherwood in the summer.

Pochettino also targeted Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin, but the Argentine's old club refused to sell.

if true this has slipped right under the radar just like chadl
