Been a pretty productive transfer window for Utd, Blind, Rojo, Falcao, Shaw, Herrera. Pretty good.

Wenger, pull your finger out and sign someone. Wouldn't mind Defoe for a few million. Could score a truck load for us..

And Di Maria don't forget!

Really? All I've seen is talk of the loan fee being anywhere between £6m and £9m. He's earning £8-10m net at Monaco which would cost Utd upwards of £15m to match. Would he really have taken that much of a pay cut?

Not sure mate. Perhaps Monaco are subsidising his wages a little as well because he's on mega bucks. The usual journo's all reporting around that figure though.

Either way I don't really mind what the fee is. He's one of my favourite players.

It comes across that way yeah.

I rarely see you post anything other than pointing out where Man Utd have gone wrong or are going wrong.

Van Gaal getting more time and if only Davey Moyes had got more time blah blah.

Continue, it's all good :)

99.5% of the forum is Manu, that is the topic of conversation. I don't think Moyes should have got more time and the only comparison I have made to LVG is I think LVG will only last 18 months.

I did see an article where Brendan Rodgers said he might be in for one more player. Only person I can think of that being is maybe a backup goalkeeper? Not likely to be another defender surely?

Have a look through some of your posts dude :)

There's commenting on current affairs and there's banging the same drum :)

To be fair, we shouldn't be in too dire straights after the international break. We have Shaw, Rafael and Rojo to come into defence and with Herrera back we should be much better in the middle.

We can then wait till January to throw money at Roma for Strootman.

If we can actually start scoring goals freely then teams won't be able to push up so high against us as we will punish them. At the moment the midfield / defence is so slow / **** that teams know exactly how to nullify our attack by pressing Fletcher and the defence.

I think this is a good observation. Anyone watching United can see that they are a very predictable side that can be easily countered at this time of the season when teams are generally very fit. Fletcher is not a creative player and is slow but also with few options ahead of him.

I don't believe RvP is fit or has been anywhere hear 100% for almost a year. Aside from his wonder header in the World Cup he was also pretty poor beyond the first match. His movement just isn't what it was in his last season with Arsenal or first with United. It makes good sense to bring in something different up front as LvG, DM or SAF don't believe that Welbeck is the answer at centre forward.

Hernandez has had plenty of opportunity to show he is worthy but really he has regressed since his first season where he had electric pace and sensational movement. Its time for him to move on and probably Welbeck too. I am a bit sad about that but if United want to compete again for top 4 then those players arent going to be good enough.

I don't know much about this Falcao chap but by all accounts he is proven at the highest level so should be a good fit. Loan also sounds sensible.

The way I see it Falcao's a very good signing for Man Utd for just these reasons - although I'd have prioritised getting a decent defensive midfielder first - but maybe LVG has something up his sleeve for later today!

Defender-wise, assuming Rojo's work permit problem is sorted, he and Blind should be a huge improvement over Smalling/Jones/Evans!

From what I understand, LvG is looking to use Blind as DM and as cover for LB/LCB if needed.

So United have signed a player who was not good enough for Real Madrid and then loaned them a player who isn't good enough for Utd but is good enough for Madrid, football is crazy.

Saw Falcao pre season at the emirates cup, looked relatively sharp, scored too.

His goals ratio is sensational

Falcao career statistics:

2007-08, River Plate, 39 games, 19 goals.
2008-09, River Plate, 35 games, 16 goals.
2009-10, Porto, 43 games 34 goals.
2010-11, Porto 42 games, 38 goals.
2011-12, Atletico, 50 games, 36 goals.
2012-13, Atletico, 41 games, 34 goals.
2013-14, Monaco, 19 games, 11 goals
