I'm not really sure we need to do a hell of a lot.

I disagree we need a new right back, Walker is perfectly fine just injured at the moment.

Left back I'm more than comfortable for Rose to stay there. We perhaps need someone who can play on the left wing and link up a bit more with Rose. On the right we still have Lennon.

Soldado will come good and when he does we then have three strikers. I've said for a while now that Kane has just needed playing time and I'm grateful to Tim for giving him that because it's shown I was right and because we have another striker that we haven't had to splash out for.

I think Lamela will come good next season too. Remember we had Bale suffering a terrible reign of form when he joined us and look how that worked out.

Paulinho and Eriksen have been the signings that have had the most impact and I agree we need to build play around Eriksen. But I'd also like to see us call Tom Carroll back and use his creativity too.

We perhaps need another CB as I'm not totally convinced by Kaboul following this season. Chiriches, Vertonghen and Dawson are all good enough for me though.

I'm not totally sure where Capoue and Chadli fit in to everything though. Capoue perhaps useful in that he can play CB. But in terms of holding midfielders we have Sandro for that and Paulinho can play that role too if he has to. Chadli I'm most unconvinced about though.

You would have to be nuts to rely on Van Persie to last. I'd sell him and bring another top striker in to play in front of rooney than sell rooney. There seems to be a lot of rooney hate despite him being one of the best players this season in a very poor side.

Does it cost anything to laugh at you now?;):D

Wow, genuine English fan right there, where mediocrity(if not just abject crapness) is seen as okay if that player is English.

Rose is crap, Walker is woeful, Dawson is useless.

Paulinho had a big impact, okay, Lamela was in bad form, really? Paulinho is a pretty pointless player and people confuse bad form for NOT PLAYING, far too often.

Lamela started 3 entire games in the league, had 6 mostly very short sub appearances, and one of the three starts(and his first start) was against... Man City. Many players, often attacking/creative players more(IMHO) who join a club and really don't get played for months lose match fitness/form and find it hard to perform in one off games weeks apart with little to no time on the pitch.

Also Kaboul, while you're right to not be convinced by him, the fact that he's never fit should be more important. More so as a Spurs fan who should realise that spending 10 years praying a CB is fit really doesn't achieve anything. but how you can not be entirely sure about Kaboul while being fine with Rose and Walker who are both dreadful players... lol.

It's not about being a "genuine English fan" DM, I think you've read a little too much into my post there.

The genuine part is that I do actually rate Walker and Rose. Both get forward to support the build up play when we counter attack and without Bale we need that pace. Both also play plenty of balls into the box. But also as already said I think Rose needs more support on the right. He is prone to driving forwards too much because Eriksen is often played on the wing and he likes to drift inside. Consequently when Rose presses forwards he leaves himself susceptible at the back.

As for Dawson, whilst I know he's not fantastic, not the best CB in the league, he's a fans favourite, is fairly consistent and loyal to the club. He is after all captain. Also, up until the City game in November where we were well and truly thumped, in those 12 premier league games we only conceded 6 goals and kept 8 clean sheets. Dawson participated in all of those 12 games. He's therefore more than good enough for me.

I didn't say Lamela was in bad form, I said he would come good. I know he never started many games. He's also been injured the best part of the season. Hence I still think he will come good, i.e. once given the time and subject to fitness. He's been written off far too early by fans and pundits alike.

Agreed, Kaboul's fitness is an issue and we do know all too well about the problems of waiting for a CB to get fit (Ledley King of course...) But I'm not sure about Kaboul because between him and Dawson I think Dawson is better but we need at least one CB with a bit of pace. Something neither seem to posses a lot of. Which is why for me i'd rather see Vertonghen paired with Dawson because Vertonghen has got that pace that's needed as well as being a much better CB anyway.

But I've already been promised that Liverpool will be lining up with Robben, Ronaldo, Hummels, Kroos and Shaw so you can't have them. Plus we're signing Messi and Bale and keeping Suarez.

Your in dreamland! :p

Lack of Champions league is going to hurt you attracting the A grade players. Let alone not having much cash either to actually buy these players.

Problem is you're going to have to offer stupid, stupid money to attract the players you want. They won't be all that interested in playing for Man Utd (without Ferguson it's just another big club), and with no European football to offer it's going to take a lot of money to tempt them, and as I've said, I can see a lot of players waiting to see what other signings Man Utd confirm before they commit - if they don't act fast it could be a busy (and desperate) August.

And I still don't believe the rumours of how much cash they've got to spend. I'll be staggered if they spend more than £100 in transfer fees this window.

There is no question about how much cash is available. How much is actually spent is another question entirely.

According to the last 1/4 reports there was £100m in the bank, just under £100m from the EPL / English TV deal (plus maybe 20-30m for CL tv money) plus first payment by Chevy for the new shirt sponsorship (~£53m) + £23m for the last year on the current Nike kit deal.

As for who can actually be attracted, well thats to be seen. City didnt struggle with attracting big names when they were out of Europe a 4 seasons ago, and with LvG (when he is announced finally lol) it might make it a little easier to attract a few big names.
