Dnipro claim that we didnt transfer the money in time, but everywhere else reports that the owner refused to sign the paperwork after the deal was agreed.

Something about him being good friends with Konoplyanka and it was too difficult to let him go. Completely ridiculous and a massive waste of time.

ok fair enough from what I recall in Jan it was a lot more indepth than that from what Baz suggested but dont recall the details

Isnt it just?? :/, so much for the FFP, no point in having that ridiculous rule if the rich arab owning clubs are just going to say **** it and buy whoever they want and just pay the fine. Platini and UEFA need to grow a pair of balls and start banning these clubs ie PSG and City from the CL if they are ever going to enforce this so called FFP. Makes a complete mockery of the rule and the system.

As for the price?? thats just epically hilarious...how is it Luiz is worth anything close to £50mill. Its about as hilarious as Utd buying Afro man for £30mill or thereabouts:p.

FFP is a complete farce though, it effectively means that current CL clubs can continue to buy big names, while smaller clubs can't splash out to grow, even if bought out by a rich owner. There have been some examples of clubs going **** up due to poor investments, but a number of examples of good ownership as well. Surely there must be a better way to control this issue than badly thought through rules?

This sounds to me like some sort of backhanded deal whereby PSG are already screwed for FFP and are doing Chelsea a huge favour by paying well over the odds for Luiz.

So PSG are already facing squad restrictions and a fine (but only care about the squad restrictions which are unlikely (?) to get much worse) but Chelsea currently face no problems. But for them to then incur squad restrictions would be a blow.

So PSG do Chelsea a favour and receive some giant backhander elsewhere which doesn't affect FFP...

Bit of a stretch I know, but so is £40m for Luiz!

Doesnt seem like there is sadly :(, if anything all the FFP does is line the corrupt UEFA's pocket. I mean where are these fines going to go?? back into developing grassroots football around Europe and the world or will it just go to line Platini's and Blatter's pockets??.

£40m for Luiz would be almost as laughable as the Felliani transfer. I thought Chelsea fans rated him because he looked funny and was a decent enough player. The £20m they paid for him sounds about right for a player of his quality.

He's honestly got all of the attributes to be a top, top defensive midfielder though. If they treat him as that, rather than as a CB, it could be good value. £40m for him at CB is a joke though.

Ye he's not disciplined enough to be a £40 million CB. Thiago Silva is a top defender now and could easily justify the money they paid for him.

Ye i think the CDM position does suit him better and he is good at going forward i will give him that, still not worth close to that kind of money though from what i have seen of him.

A lot of better CDM's and CB's out there than him now that wouldn't fetch half of his price. Chelsea have done some very good business in the last year or so by getting top money for players that are not getting a lot of game time like Mata and Luiz.

I'm not a massive fan of Luiz really really... he has put in some great performances (normally in midfield) but I get pretty nervous whenever he's in the team, he's a bit of a liability.

£40-50m is insane, that'll do nicely!

I'm not saying he's a top CDM yet, but I can think of very few players with the attributes he has. He can pass, is comfortable on the ball, is solid positionally (as long as he has a manager who can knock some sense into him) is strong in the tackle, is quick. He has everything, and just needs some coaching and time playing that role. He could be a fantastic replacement for Motta, who surely won't play at that level too much longer.

If he's played there, that price could look very good in a few years time. Of course, it could all go horribly wrong, but it's not like PSG are short of money to gamble with.
