Even if you would consider City to be 'small' based on their worldwide fan base, since when would that even come into the equation? Big wages plus the potential to win things trumps a large worldwide fan base every day of the week.

Lambert?

I don't think so at all. You need decent strikers when playing as many games as Liverpool hope to next year. I don't see it as any different to when people thought Sheringham to united was bizarre. Far easier to keep players of that age happy with 15-20 starts and the rest as sub appearances.

Cheap, decent form and might get 2 good years out of him from the bench. Can't lose really.

I don't think anyone thought signing Sheringham was bizarre.... I certainly didn't. If I remember rightly wasn't he brought in the summer Cantona retired?

He also started considerably more games than 15-20 a season as well whilst at United, so different circumstances to how much action i'd expect Lambert to see (unless they sell someone obviously)

Either way, £4 million for him is a bargain in my eyes, a good signing for Liverpool, but i'm not convinced it's a good transfer as far as the player is concerned.

What makes a club "big" ? If your talking about worldwide fanbase....then yes, they are a small club or at least considerably smaller.

x

But why would a player care about whether fans in far flung reaches of the world are supporting him? Surely the following are far more important:
- Money
- Winning stuff
- Local support (ie in the stadium)

Only then are they realistically going to care about their legacy elsewhere, and to be frank if they're consistently winning trophies that will be enough to get their name known worldwide, regardless of whether they are at a traditionally broadly supported club.

.

Only in his first season until they signed Yorke. It was a curious signing as he never spoke to Cole and they disliked each other. A weird partnership to put together. I think Liverpool will have signed Lambert to do a similar number of appearances. They will probably be hoping though he scores more goals than Sheringham, who had one good season in 4. His last.

From an attacking sense he ***** all over Lallana :) not sure on the defensive side of his game though doubtful he would 'put a shift in'.

He would be the type of signing that would take us up a level though imo

Well I think lallana would be a pretty turd and underwhelming signing given the cost, his age and our more drastic needs

Going up a level from 101 goals would be enjoyable :D

A similar number of appearances other than Sheringhams first, or last season? Possibly, he obviously won't be a starter whilst Suarez and Sturridge are both at the club and fit, which is why I can't really see it doing Lamberts career any good.

That being said, he's no spring chicken so maybe he fancies a few easy seasons before retirement.

Its the conceeding of goals that 'pool have to work on surely (well that would be a lot easier to improve than the getting of them at any rate)

Of course, hence why I'm not overly fussed on spending loads of our limited money on those players.

That said if we go to the next level as Newbie put it by signing Fabregas I'd welcome more goals :D

Chuck him in place of Coutinho/Allen and he would add 10- 15 goals easily, unfortunately I can't see us going for him. Players we've been linked with don't get the juices going :(

Someone like fabregas and say Martinez for 60 mill the pair, mmmmm yummy

Instead 4 ml on an average old English striker...yippee

Balague has confirmed all the Cesc reports and says he's being forced out. Arsenal don't want him back and there are no other offers at the moment. Man City seem to have ruled themselves out now too.

Sky Sports have just said Chelsea and Barcelona are both trying to sign Koke.

We need to at least make Fabregas an offer. :/

As much as the Arsenal fans love him, it might be £30m better spent on a striker.

I know they could buy both, but will the board really sanction that considering how long it took to put their hands in their pockets for Ozil?

I was all for Liverpool signing Fabregas, but not so sure. He would essentially be a replacement/upgrade (possibly) to Coutinho in attacking sense, but I worry that he wouldnt be strong defensively when called upon. I'm also not sure whether he's as versatile as we need him to be.

Would rather Sanchez.

Liverpool aren't interested in Fabregas either by the sound of it. Chelsea have been linked today and appear the most likely, but that'll no doubt change tomorrow. :p

Could end up anywhere.
