trouble buyer on the bay

Blacklisted by PayPal yes. But who cares. They are a ruthless company only interested in filling their pockets. It'll have no ramifications outside that.

It's either that or lose the money. So I would suggest unlinking anything with PayPal. Once a chargeback is filed the account is frozen.

Are you sure? I'm pretty certain that there's some way to go through the small claims court to get the money back. And a judge would not look favourably on someone doing all they can to avoid it.

His fault for not sending it recorded post. His responsibility if it doesn't get there. His responsibility to prove it did get there if the buyer says it didn't.

I'm not trying to be unsympathetic, but it's not right to try to do a runner with the money.

The buyers only feedback is from a seller (kreonxtreme) associated with selling hardware used in modifying Xbox 360s for illegal means.

This guy is obviously unscrupulous in nature. Don't waste your time or money.

Or they're just DVD drives used in computers? Looking at the last 3 items sold is hardly indicative of what the seller sells on a regular basis. The other sale was from a long time ago (March 2008) while the 3 x DVD ROM sales were a few months ago.

Just imagine for one second that you're the buyer who hasn't recieved an item, and the seller does a runner.

Sorry but if you knew anything about Xbox 360 modification you would know the relevance of the terms, 'kreon', 'xtreme', and those particular makes of DVD drives.

I would claim off my credit card company for any high value purchases like this.

I don't see why you are trying to defend the actions of this Polish guy who is probably only here on a short term basis looking to rip off as many people on ebay before leaving the country.

Fair enough. I modded my PSP. Am I now an unscrupulous person.

I can pretty much guarantee a lot of people download music illegally, so should no one be trusted anymore?

One anecdotal piece of evidence from over a year ago which suggests very little used as a basis to screw the buyer over is a joke.

Yep, using his very old ebay account he has started to scam loads of people. Lets just wait a few weeks and see if lots of negatives come up on his account then shall we? I'd take a ten pound bet with a respected member on this forum as a mediator that there won't (other than the OPs). Unlike you, I know most Polish people are actually good people.

edit:

http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAP...eName=PageBidderProfileViewBids_None_ViewLink

I see bids on 2 items in the last 30 days with 1 winning bid. Not indicative of someone trying to scam people on ebay.

Racist much?

I believe the term is xenophobic, though even that would be harsh based on that one comment.

No, it would be racist. He's making a judgement on the (we presume) Polish buyer of the graphics card, quite simply based on the fact that he's (presumed to be) Polish. If it had been a Dutch name would he have jumped to the same conclusion?

That's right. Let's all act politically correct. Nevermind losing £150.

Little wonder this country is going down the pan.

Have to say you have learned your lesson, pretty much all large companies are rip off merchants nowadays and have lost that one to one problem solving with there customers. In my opinion RMSD is the 'lowest' form of posting id ever use, i.e. the reliability you would expect in posting something....you used to get this all the time years and years ago, good honest service, but its 2009 and so those morals and ethics are out of the window, nowadays you have to pay top money for 'service you would expect', which is stupid and makes you think why they even bother offering 4th class post or whatever it is, unfortunately the way it is :(

It's your fault for not paying the extra 72p for recorded delivery tbh!
The best you can do is ask him politely to wait a week longer explaining that there is a postal strike.
If he still hasn't got it by then your gonna have to refund him as the onus is on you to prove that he has received it which you can't do as you were to tight/silly to pay an extra 72p!

What
It's his own fault his potentially lost £150, why should someone else lose out £150 because of this

It's nothing to do with being politically correct. It's to do with being morally right. You think someone should be ripped off £150 because they might be trying to do the same? And you base this on him having a Polish sounding name, and having bought a DVD drive on eBay which is commonly used by people either backing up their games or getting pirate copies? And when someone disagrees you cry it's political correctness gone mad?

Every time I see threads like this, any sympathy I may otherwise feel is quashed the moment I read that someone was stupid enough to send a high value electronic item unrecorded. It absolutely beggars belief.

Even recorded isn't enough to qualify for paypal seller protection, it must be tracked eg special delivery. Personally I reccomend SD anyway so the buyer doesn't ask you what is taking so long if there is a postal strike etc.

Just in case this thread is used for future reference. I'm right in thinking if it's recorded the seller could still claim compensation up to a certain amount from Royal Mail. So for lower value items it would be the right postage method to use?
