UEFA Euro 2012 - Group D - ** spoilers ** (England, France, Sweden, Ukraine)

(Im a big fan of the parker turn, so simple yet effective)

exactly this. along with blocking, breaking down, passing simple. all simple but effective but never gonna win any prizes or headlines.

people criticise parker but you have to look into exactly how he performs his 'role' perfectly.

Rooney said he likes playing with welbeck quite a few times last season, I would think its Welbeck with Rooney just off of him and Young/Milner wide.

Yep Rooney voted for Welbeck for the clubs Player of the Year, seems to like playing up front with him very much :)

He's not going to ping a pass like xavi

Xavi rarely pings a pass. It's generally all short passing between xavi, iniesta, silva, etc.
What is this based on exactly?

I am amazed you think he has been rubbish in his career.

The below par performance he's put in every time he's put the shirt on.

I'd much rather have an ageing lampard over an ageing gerrard, especially alongside parker, and lampard's been a far better player over his career.

I wasn't criticising him tbh, he's pretty good in the CDM spot, but imo to be the best in that role you need to be able to use the ball better than he does, all the big clubs have somebody in the role who is technically brilliant (Busquets, Alonso, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Pirlo etc.). Overall he is a pretty good CDM but not outstanding or good enough to be at the top as he only has half of the qualities needed

I do think he's been very ordinary in the last few games, but in fairness he does look absolutely shattered or injured or something, maybe he's just looking his age

I agree with cm1179, Parker really is just a battler in the middle of the park, he's a ball winner but on the ball he's never going take on a player or make a defence splitting pass.

My prediction for the night will be 1 - 1. I think we're play defensive, concede a goal, then all of a sudden play amazing (which we should have done from the start) and nick a late equaliser.

Who does everyone think with partner Rooney up front (assuming he goes for 2 up front)?

I think he'll go with Welbeck just based on the MUFC link up, but I'd prefer him to mix it up as Welbeck still seems very nervous.

Has to be Welbeck really.
