UEFA Euro 2012 - Group D - ** spoilers ** (England, France, Sweden, Ukraine)

It's funny how much praise Parker gets and how much Barry gets slated.

Barry is superior in every department apart from pace. It says a lot when he is one of the key members of our team under Mancini and how key he was for Capello both multiple title winning coaches.
Very well thought of by the other players as well, Silva even voted for Barry as players player of the year!

Regarding tonight I hope Welbeck starts, has quietly impressed me so far. Don't know if he has been doing this all year but he looks a good player.

Who does everyone think with partner Rooney up front (assuming he goes for 2 up front)?

I think he'll go with Welbeck just based on the MUFC link up, but I'd prefer him to mix it up as Welbeck still seems very nervous.

Really? I thought one of the only positives from Welbeck was that he played without fear.

Anyone claiming Gerrard has done nothing through his career shouldn't even be watching football. Yes he's not as good as he was but he's a much better leader than Lampard.

Anyway's Rooney should definitely start tonight.

When team mates praise a player on their team it becomes worthless for nothing more than, they could like said player and want to be nice, or they could hate said player and not want to cause a rift.

Remember how Xavi, and Guardiola, and Messi have called Busquets the single most important player in the team............ its nonsense, not least because the team did as well/better before he ever played for the team, and because they all say the same thing if asked about Puyol, or Valdes, or Eto'o, or Abidal, etc, etc.

As for Barry lacking pace, that isn't some insignificant thing to be ignored. In a team that HAS to win a particular game and can't go for a draw(cup football vs league) then you will push forwards more and having a DM, a SINGLE DM who has to be able to provide cover at the back, who 99% of players in the world can run past is completely useless.

Parker shined in a team that was flapping around like retards around him, three places(Charlton and West Ham, and Spurs) Barry looked okay when Villa were great, and terrible when Villa were poor, and looks okay at City with Kompany, Clichy, Lescott, De Jong, Toure and Hart all behind him.

**** players don't stand out in a great team that's winning, **** players DO stand out as being **** in a **** team that is losing. Great players stand out for being great in a great team that is winning or a poor team that is losing. Barry NEVER stands out for good reasons, and Parker does.

Barry IS rubbish, offers nothing every other player in the league doesn't and isn't even a patch on how good his good few years at Villa were.

He's had several 1 on 1's and tripped over himself almost as if he's trying too hard and a little nervous.

Nope, that's just Welbeck, he's actually not bad in the 6 yard box, though, most players aren't. Give him the ball 30 yards out with one guy to beat and a goalie and I'd give him less than most in terms of chance to score. He doesn't take people on, and his passing isn't very good, his crossing and general interplay isn't very good. Still don't rate him in the slightest, you can get footballers who are deadly in the 6 yard box and brilliant at everything else, and you can get players only good at one thing who cost you everywhere else. THink he offered next to nothing in the first game, next to nothing in the second game, and will offer next to nothing in the third game.

Defoe isn't brilliant, but his "all around" game is woefully underated. He can turn players, he can go around players, and he can pass it to team mates, he's not world class at any of those things, but he's not bad either. This is why we should have taken the likes of Holt, his passing is actually not at all bad, his hold up play is miles better than anyone else we could take, he's got a brain, can turn players with his strength. You don't play someone who can do one thing well and not much of anything else. Best all around player's win the day in football, the most capable team in the most wide ranging situation will win more games against varied opponents.

How many teams have a truly horrific Blackburn left back to exploit who honest to god, I have no clue why or how he's a professional footballer?

So Parker shining for 2 **** teams and 1 good one is something that is a positive about him?

Meanwhile Barry was very good at Villa during the seasons they were top 6? and has been excellent at City. Key players at both teams as well. More so at City as has been proven many a time.

Barry is years ahead of Parker who's whole game consists of running around and fouling people, short passes and WEARING HIS HEART ON HIS SLEEVE WITH REAL ENGLISH PRIDE AND PASSION LIKE A TRUE ENGLISHMAN.

Barry on the other hand is instrumental in both our attacking play and when we are defending. Perhaps you should buy the Champions 2012 DVD and watch every game? I can lend it to you if you want? email in trust ;)
Then you will see just how good he is and how much better he is than Parker.

barry is a decent player but parker gives something else.

watch him tonight (unless gerrard pulls his socks up) and you'll see he is having to cover his ground as well.

parker is ideal for any creative midfielder to play with, he gives a creative midfielder the safety net of being within passing or tackling distance should it all go **** up for them. he deserves massive plaudits for this. he doesn't just pass the ball simply, often he follows the player he has passed to until something comes from the situation, be that the ball moves into an attack or the player loses the ball, he is a very smart and (shock horror) considerate player which makes him a great part of any team.

As a Ukrainian fan, I very much doubt that we stand a chance in winning against England. We'll be thrashed! It'd be a miracle if we won/equalised.

With Shevchenko possibly out, we have little chance. Let's see what happens.

I think Parker is a good player, does a good job for Spurs and for England I just think Barry is better.

That third paragraph is exactly what Barry does with Yaya but never gets the plaudits apart from of course City players and fans.

I've a sneaking suspicion Walcott will start.

i think we might see a 4-2-3-1 with Rooney, Walcott and Young in front of Gerrard and Parker with Welbeck up top.

England surprised me in their last match, they played well. I’d like to see England go on and win it, but I think the Germans will.
