So apparently the US have outright said no to negotiations.

Seems a shame they don’t want to at least ‘try’ - surely that’s the first step toward any sort of peace no matter how remote the chances of achieving it are on the first attempt.

I do understand the reluctance and complete distrust of the other side but someone has got to start somewhere?

Russia clearly aren’t going anywhere and Ukraine aren’t going to stop defending themselves either so surely actual dialogue would help towards an end of the continual and tragic loss of human life

Ah yes, peace again, been there, done it, got invaded , even after crimea.

Who in their right mind is going to negotiate with Putin.

Seen this on another form, anyone know if we can corroborate this? Do the Russians reuse tank number?

(Left the posters name in it to give them credit)

Russia bring out a little bit of history maybe.

Ah Vladolf and his historical obsessions. Next up, lancers and pike men.

Hitler wasn't such a bad guy, those Jewish Poles forced Hitler to defend the German population in Poland and create living space.
Just thought I would add a little historical context to this comedy (as it make it even funnier).

Pretty much everyone knows about Germany and the USSR carving up Poland at the start of WW2 however something not often covered is that the USSR never actually gave their bit back, today it's part of western Belarus and Ukraine. In order to make this "right" after WW2 for the newly pro-Soviet Poland Stalin allowed them to annex part of East Germany, and this is why if you look at before/after WW2 maps it looks like Poland moved 400KM to the west.

So yeah, Hitler's attempts to grab most of Poland directly resulted in Poland permanently expanding into Germany :p

Kremlin apparently not happy with interview and Putin says Tucker is an idiot who lacks creativity
Putin be like "You idiots spend two years rejecting the deluge of interview applications form western media, then you pick this guy!?!" haha

Russia (the federation of) wasn’t even conceived until the collapse of the USSR. Putin is twice the age Russia…
In fairness,

When the USSR broke up negotiations were made at international levels that would see the Russian Federation legally recognised globally as the continuation of the USSR (and the Russian Empire before it), this is why Russia inherited the USSR's permanent member status on the UNSC, it's UN seat, it's trade agreements, it's party to international economic and military treaties, etc, etc.

The price of all that was that Russia would also inherit the entire global/domestic debt of the USSR, which is why Russia spent the entirety of the 1990s as a bankrupt mess while all the other ex-Soviet Republics were flourishing (okay flourishing may be a strong word, but having zero debt from day one plus a country full of valuable military equipment you don't need definitely made the accension to country status much easier for them).

but it’s still no excuse to make this attempt to reinvent history to justify a brutal and unjust war. Its rather pathetic to see TBH.
Indeed, he's just talking **** to try and justify the situation as he sees it :(

Not sure if its been discussed yet or not. Its old footage now but currently watching a video of compiled combat footage from the latter half of last year from the perspective of the 3rd Brigade. Gives a whole load more respect for the sheer bravery and courage of these guys, trench/woodline clearing is INTENSE!!!
I cant link it hear for obvious reasons however title is in the Spoiler, with obvious caveats its intense, lots of swearies, potentially triggering and a few visually grusome bits (Blurred) but it dosnt take much imagination to think whats happening to the guys on the receiving end. Its enough to send anxiety levels through the roof at some points though...
Last phase of 2023 offensive: fierce fighting by the 3rd Brigade on the way to liberating Andriivka

War in 4k is quite something...

Yes, but it was also incumbent on Russia to allow any state the former USSR was made up of the right to self determination and become independent.

Ukranian pilot currently training on the F16 speaking with reporter says that while training has been challenging for Ukranian pilots who are used to Soviet planes, however the guy says Ukranian pilots have been very happy with the F16 and that its capabilities and performance has significantly exceeded their expectations of the platform.

He’s not wired right is he. Trumps big brain idea is to monetise world peace? He’s just absolutely clueless how global economics work…
In the long term it will drive countries to develop their own platforms and this will impact the US defence industry. Less money coming in from abroad and having to operate their own supply to the US at a lower scale so at greater cost.

Funny how people jump on this sort of stuff as an "ahaha!! GOTCHA!" - when in this specific example it was clearly a mistake not a bare-faced lie - he probably meant grandfather and the whole grandfather-Zelensky thing is pretty well documented.

Heck, for all we know even the translator could have got this wrong in the moment because Father and Grandfather don't sound entirely dissimilar when talking fast (at least for a westerner like me). That translator had his work cut out for sure.

Putin is a proven liar and much, much worse things thousands of times over.

I remember when Reagan was elected he was laughed at for being an actor. But he was far and away a better president than either Trump or Biden. It's amazing that those two are the only people in the race nowadays.

Edit: There is even a joke about it in Back To The Future :)
