Vega 56 worth it at around £200?

Foxeye has finally decided to upgrade??:eek: Well, if it's priced well enough for Foxeye to get off the fence, then it must be an absolute steal!! :p

Also, I should really put up a poll and start taking bets. How long will it be before Foxeye starts complaining about his new card? :D:p

Yep I almost guarantee he will complain about coil buzz and whine, ;)

I have a 780ti which was given free for a game called x4 foundations as min was 3gb vram and i had a 670 2gb card . Anyhow 3gb is the bare min and ive been toying with getting a 8gb card but the prices.. Anyhow when i saw the 56 pulse for £250 i thought thats probs about the lowest EOL deal were gona get for it so snapped it up and hopefully be great at 1440p res.

Now i dont game a whole lot these days but when i do want to id like to have a nice smooth experience. I recently a few months back bought a 31in aoc 1440p IPS display for 160 iirc which was usually sold for 200 and had rave reviews but since getting it games that went really great with the 780ti dropped a little in performance like gta 5 when moving from 1080p to 1440p. So hoping to get the performance back perhaps and then some.

My cpu is the old 3570k at 4.2ghz i used to clock it to 4.5ghz but i lost the settings during bios update and i had a AIO water cooler on at the time, im on a good but air cooler matterhorn one. Max temps in games atm is 55ish or 50 i forget. Will me cpu be much of a bottleneck do you think? I mean i dropped some gfx settings in gta 5 to high instead of very high and its butter smooth on the 780ti so im guessing i dont have a cpu bottleneck as fps jumped from 45-50 on very high to about 60+ on high. Just hoping i havent done a dumb impulse buy tbh even tho i tried searching to see if it would be a good update for my cpu but not many videos or topics about 3570k and vega 56s about as id have thought.

Oh is my 620w corsair HX which was all the rage about 10 years ago gona be ok, its pretty old psu but seems to still go strong.

I could later maybe get a 3770k cpu but i dont have 100 spare, the 2600k is 60 quid on the bay but thats even older tech so not sure plus i dont fancy swapping a cpu if truth be told like the hassle of removing a big air cooler off and then back on again. :p

Thing is which im probably stupid for is why buy it? As all i really do is play a bit of sentinels of the multiverse with a friend, a bit of portal 2, mini metro, x4 foundations when its finally up to scratch with the 2 big dlcs coming and thats about it, id like to maybe try a few modern AAA games with a good campaign story but no recent games have really caught my eye. Id love a remaster of mohaa but thats just me dreaming. I mainly just watch kodi or anime on my pc. But still i think id like to replay some of the gta games and we all know a gta 6 will eventually come so i guess the vega will help there a lot as i always preorder those as ive never been dissapointed in them and love em to bits (dont do mp on gta 5 tho). RdR2 if it comes to pc i think id play even tho ive seen some of it played on twitch i think id like to play it by myself so the vega should be good for that too yeah?

Anyhow just sorta describing my situation/story to see if i done right getting it or not. :p

I was waiting for navi but the prices are higher than i thought they would be i thought we were getting vega 56 power for less due to cheaper 7nm process but guess i was wrong. Also thought maybe the supposed super cards meant that the older say 2060 might have had a £100 knocked off so instead of 300 it would be 200 but nah thats not gona happen. Besides i wanted to see how freesync went and thought id give amd another go after not really getting on with their agp cards from the early 2000s.

I can't say I've ever experienced this phenomenon. Loud fans **** me off, which is a large part of why I'm ditching the 480. Going from Sapphire to Sapphire, but from what I'm told the Sapphire 480 cooler was unusually poor and not typical of their cards.

If you haven't experienced the Sapphire 480 4GB you really shouldn't throw stones at people moaning about them :p It's a poor card.

I have the Vega 56 MSI AirBoost - got with with 3 games; for 200 it's worth the money even if it's a blower card. Does anyone know how to turnoff the MSI logo red led? Is it easy to do?

@FoxEye, Are you glad you got it for £249 still yesterday? i think i am when i got it same time as you as i've noticed they have yet again played yoyo with the price and put it back up to £289 for the pulse.
Saw that. As I was explaining to another member here I normally have really, really terrible buyer's remorse over everything I buy for myself.

To the extent where it's something of a mental illness! I think some people call it by it's medical name: "Tightus Arsiinus".

But this time I'm only slightly appalled with myself for spending some money. I'll just have to give myself 50 lashes later today.
