Vista Beta 2 Goes Public Today

Just a little tip if the following ever happens to you.

I set vista to standby by accident before (32bit) meant to reboot, and upon resuming i got a blue screen

My onboard realtek Lan card would not work after this , router would not see it and it kept showing as no cable connected in Xp and Vista.

The only thing that got it back online was by turning off the PSU and back on again

Maybe a simple fix, but it had me scratching my head for a good while.

Anyone managed to find a virtual CD mounting program that works yet, and anyone tried nVidia's beta drivers for gaining SATA/RAID on NF4?

Hey guys, just read through this whole thread, wow, lots going on :D Right, just to pushover my, well, i wouldn't say problem, but situation i would like to look at and maybe get assistance with? :)

I have 3 drives

C:\ 160GB ATA
D:\ 60GB ATA
E:\ 80GB SATA
T:\ Removable USB 2.0 300GB drive

I have windows XP installed on drive e, and proceeded to back up all of my c drive to T, i then formatted and installed vista on my c drive, the E drive is set to be booted from and of course as vista is on c and xp is on e i'm not getting any kind of dual boot options, i'm honestly not sure of the best way around this? Would anyone let me know a way that would allow me to get the dual boot menu without too much shuffling around? or will i be looking at a lot of work & hassle? :D

Thanks guys!

So how do you add extensions to Vista then? I've been trying to get torrents associated with utorrent but it won't accept it, and there is no way of adding them manually.
I just used the "open with..." dialog and checked "always open with this program" to associate .torrent and .tor with BitTornado.

Ok this is getting on my wick now - I can't get the x64 iso properly. It keeps coming in at 14MB - I've tried Firefox, Gozilla and NetTransport and all come back the same. Any suggestions as it is driving me nuts.

i have the beta from our msdn subscription but i want to try downloading it anyway.

so check this out - i download the 64bit version yesterday - does it in a few hours - and hey presto i've got a 4gb file with nothing inside it other than a TXT file!!!

That is what it is. Burn an image of it to DVD and it will work. Or alternatively, you can see all the files with Daemon Tools.

Installed the 64 bit and running fine, but whats the deal with connecting to the internet via wireless  I have a netgear WG111v2, is there absolutely no way this router will work wirelessly with Vista  would the 32bit version of vista recognise my wireless set up?? I dont see why its so hard that microsoft cant include the software and back compat drivers like in XP to pick up wireless set ups,??? Also does this mean that if you buy vista you will have to buy a whole new 64bit compat wireless set up??

looking forward to having a good look around vista but with no internet connection its all a bit pointless :(

No problems here with Netgear 111v2 under 32 bit. Dont run the disk - let vista do it for you if you havent tried it already. Even my audio (audigy ) was picked up no problems. Am quite impressed. Stable so far and no crashes/issues.

Thats right, as the file image is UDF you have to burn it to DVD to see all the files, otherwise you just get a text file

Anyone know how you copy folders? I want to copy all of the music I have into iTunes, but I can only do it by folder contents at a time which will take me for ever. :(
