Watch Dogs - Ubisoft's Third Person Shooter

That makes it even worse... stick a few mods on a 7 year old game and it looks more advanced than a "next-gen" AAA title? Totally ridiculous

And how many people can run GTA 4 modded enough to look better then WD at playable frame rate. Even with gta4 modded, I still think WD looks and feels better. The city just feels more alive.

I take it this game isn't worth the money???

i think its worth the money spent good 10 hours on it only done max of 8 missions? just like driving around doing side stuff

but even on GTA V or Sleeping Dogs i got 70 hours+ from just being part of the town.

GTA V 120 hours on Record
Sleeping dogs - 81 hours on Record
Mafia II - 75 Hours on Record

depends what you want out of the game

Story? - not got far enough to tell you
Being part of the open world - chilling out listening to convo, then yes
Open World Fun - Sure, theirs a fair amount to do
Replace GTA V - No its total different

Also Emegency services do other things beside you, not just yourself they just dont stop they aimless drive around :D

Digital foundry comparison.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-watch-dogs-performance-analysis

Perhaps more disappointing are the issues with PC performance. We noted a lot of comments online about stutter and can confirm that this is an issue, even with powerful gaming hardware. It appears that streaming of assets is the major culprit as adjusting texture quality has much more of an effect than dialling back graphical presets. We'll go into depth on PC performance in the full Face-Off, coming soon, but first impressions are that while the stutter issue remains in effect on Nvidia hardware (with v-sync active, we see occasional frame-time dips from 16ms to 33ms to 50ms), it is much more of an issue with the AMD cards. Even going nuclear and throwing a top-end 290X at the problem didn't produce a satisfactory experience.

You mean the russian video comparing a modified version of GTA IV to Watch Dogs?

This isn't modded at all. You can see it isn't.

Someone elsewhere said that using FRAPS to see their fps, actually halved their framerate.

1080p, Ultra, 4x MSAA and it's running great on my PC.

i7 4770k @ 4.5Ghz
8GB Ram
AMD 290x using Beta 14.6
Win 8.1

Have you tried playing it without a fps counter and just seeing if it's alright?

I have said that. But not when using fraps as a fps checker, only half's fps when recording gameplay at 1440p

I don't see that as the issue... GTAIV runs badly because it's a poorly coded awful port, but the point is for really quite old tech (even modded) it still surpasses WD in so many areas... From the reports about the place WD doesn't exactly run at a playable frame rate either for a lot of people

This isn't a comment on the game itself or the gameplay - it may be fantastic and as I already mentioned it looks like it has a lot of fun elements... But it was billed as some kind of flagship title which was going to usher in the new age of fabulous next-gen visuals, so you can't be surprised that people are trying to asses it on that basis

Apologies if this has been posted earlier, but it's a hilarious video.

The game is just OK. Not 'next-gen', 'ground breaking' or going to change gaming forever.

My issues (potential spoilers?)

- The witness calling the police thing doesn't really work. I've walked into several different stores, shot the guy behind the counter, stole the money and walked out and drove to the next store... nobody called the police.

I've also mass murdered people in the street, with plenty of other people nearby and nobody called the police.

- There aren't enough options for when you "hack" someone's phone. You either hack their bank account, listen to the phone call where they are just chatting, watch a pointless message exchange, be alerted to a crime about to happen or be told about a package you can go and pick up. If you walk around an area full of pedestrians it gets boring very quickly, not enough variety.

It also lets you know if you are going to get any of the good ones by making the persons profile blue, so you can just "hack" the blue ones.

- The police are stupid. It's easy to get away from them, you can just drive very fast and most of them time they can't keep up. Once you've lost them they don't search very far, or for very long afterwards, they give up very quickly.

I've driven into a parking lot then hid in the car and 3 police men walked straight past me. I was in exactly the same car they saw enter the car park, yet they ignored it...

- The world feels small, and boring. Not enough going on, just rows and rows of shops you cannot go into.

- The AI is terrible. Enemies completely ignore things that happen around them. You can take out people 3 feet away from their friend and they don't even notice. They often don't even react to bodies on the floor.

- Most of the world is mini-games or shops to rob, which gets boring very quickly.

- The side activities are all very repetitive and get boring quickly.

Crime = go to the blue circle and wait for the criminal then either shoot or tackle him.

Rolling contract = drive car to location.

Privacy intrusion (can't remember name) = Follow the white line, hack the box, watch what happens inside.

Gang Hideout = Boring gun mechanics, cover shooter and all it does is show how bad the AI is.

There are about 40 of each of the 3 above. They are tiresome after doing ~3 of each.

- Not enough conversations/interactions between NPC's. I can walk around the city and hear exactly the same conversation between 3 different sets of couples.

- Ambulances don't come for dead people, and fire engines don't show up to put out fires, from what I have seen anyway.

- Boats and the water in general is pretty pointless. There are 3 different types of boat and you see the same 3 everywhere. I couldn't find anything exciting you could only access via the water, just lots of boats rigged up or dead ends. Empty world.

- The port is terrible. Using the mouse as a replacement for the thumbstick just doesn't work. I have to move my mouse all over my mousemat to get through menus, it's not natural at all. It does play fine with a 360 pad though.

I've played for about 4 hours, and only done 1 main mission (after the initial tutorial/intro) and it was OK. Can't really comment on the story yet, but I don't feel inclined to open the game again.

It's seriously lacking polish and needed much longer development time, along with some new ideas.

This is not GOTY, it's not even a great game, it's disappointing and just OK.

Having problems atm with BSoD when I try to start a game. Whats annoying is the first time I loaded it up I got to the part of where you get control of your character to 'fire' the gun' before something glitched out. Every time since then the moment it finishes loading on a Continue or New game it instantly BSoDs and makes me have to turn the comp off.

AMD 6950. A bit of googling this morning recommended 14.6 beta drivers. Will have to see if it helps tonight...

GTA iv can be made to look great. Did this video about a year ago showing the mods, ran perfect on one gigabyte 7970 and a it 920
a lighting mod on watch dogs would be nice
but agree, the more modern games are more alive, all we need is GTA V for pc ;)

could be your video card memory ?
But yes the 14.6 drivers are a lot better on my cards 7970s
I have noticed that my game sometimes crashes to desktop but only when I'm online :(

I've asked before, Has anyone got SweetFX working with WD using Windows 8.1? It's driving me bonkers. Spent a day reading guru3d forums, sweetfx comments and forums, nothing I do seems to allow me to use it on 8.1.

not had any issues (crashes) with this game but first thing i did was turn off Online options. Invade the lot. :p

BSOD might be worth looking at the following
GPU Memory Usage
RAm Usage (ive seen 9GB at one time!)
OC stablity

This is not GOTY, it's not even a great game, it's disappointing and just OK.

This video highlights most of my issues with the game and.... does the end of that video show Nvidia up to it's same old tricks, water being animated and shown throughout the world underneath the main map... because they want it to hit performance where ever it's used?

Most of the things that shatter or explode look a bit stupid, but because of the absolute uncontrollability of driving, that most stuff doesn't stop the car dead is a bonus.....

Nothing in the city basically reacts the way it should, and hacking for the most part is boring.

Camera's being everywhere is both realistic and useful but as I said before, barriers/random crap to explode, none of it makes sense being there in the first place.

I've seen more than one elevator now where you can raise it out of the ground as more cover and I think... what. These aren't elevators that come all the way up to use as cover or get to a downstairs level of the area, they are so disconnected from the world it's laughable.

Things like characters jumping backwards to avoid you and destroying an entire fence.

For the performance on offer the game is hilariously bad. It looks okay, nothing less, and the game world is made up of broken pieces. Story is not that terrible, but the lack of any real story linking any of the other stuff together apart from the main story. The intrusions cap it off, I've been doing more to actually see if at least there is one brilliant one amongst all the crap but again it's just more humourless rubbish.

Watch Watch Dogs' E3 footage and the PC build side by side

Spoiler: they don't look exactly the same

http://www.destructoid.com/watch-watch-dogs-e3-footage-and-the-pc-build-side-by-side-275447.phtml

I've heard people bounce between saying Watch Dogs looks pretty alright and Watch Dogs looks like someone defecated into their eyeballs. This is because we are on the internet and people on the internet get very upset about how videogames do or do not look.

You can look for yourself. The E3 2012 footage versus the retail copy on ultra settings, generally in the same area though during a different time of day.

If this bothers you -- genuinely rocks you down to your core and makes you want to lash out on the internet -- please find creative and constructive outlets for your strong feelings. If your response is milder; 'oh, bummer it didn't end up looking as good as it could have,' for example, you're fine, but I hope you also have the same outlets. We all need outlets. Where else would we stick our electronics in?

The game also stutters like crazy for me, almost unplayable at times.

i7 3770k
GTX 670 4GB
6GB DDR3 1600mhz ram
1920x1080

Using the latest nvidia drivers (that was meant to fix this) makes no difference.

Changing the graphic settings doesn't seem to make any difference, but according to http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/gu...ng-guide#watch-dogs-optimal-playable-settings I should be able to play it on high/ultra.

Anything unusual in that screenshot?
