Watch Dogs - Ubisoft's Third Person Shooter

Can anyone provide a link to a sweetfx that works with 64bit windows 8.1 please? Cannot find one anywhere and the one I have gives me a program stopped working error

Just had to do one of those missions where you have to tail someone without being spotted and if you are you have to start again. Gave me nightmares of assassins creed all over again. I know they copy and paste a lot between there games but did they really have to include that lol.

That is enough to put me off getting this game. Terrible design decision, especially based on the feedback they get about it from AC.

Nighttime and/or rain = good graphics
Day time in the sun = bad graphics.

Trees, grass etc look really naff when it's day time and sunny.

Completely disagree. Sunny day time weather, especially in downtown, looks stunning. Most realistic I have seen in a game yet. Not to mention sunrises and sunsets, different weathers, all of which look fanastic and ooooze atmosphere.
Playing on ultra here.

Yep but the foliage, jaggies and ridiculous popin make the day time look like ass.

Installed those latest AMD drivers and had another crack at this, and enjoying it despite of everything. Settled for mostly high settings @ 1080, and getting about 35 - 60fps on my 7950 not gonna tweak it further as it's pretty playable now.

Still not a GTA beater, but fun in none the less. :)

+1 although it can look a bit over exposed :)

I'm really enjoying it, but not done many missions due to being a complete and utter child camping at traffic lights or bollards, hacking and then watching the carnage :D

Also running on ultra with the pagefile command on two 7950s

What kind of frame rate you getting? I've got 2 7950s but found it's much smoother using 1. Have not tried the page file trick though ...

i done a few missions in act 3 out of 5 & really enjoying it, so many side quests to keep me entertained then their just driving around listening to convos.

To help captain cave man out above
sleeping dogs: 80 hours on record
GTA V: 100+ hours on Record
Watch dogs: 42.3 hours on record so far (not completed) When i'm finished i'm going to play it again. the different way.

I'm currently playing it like a Cop:
No stealing car driving down the street
no shooting civilians
help people as much as possible (crimes stopping etc)
not using guns around civilians

now have 100% good score, which means when people see me, they go woo that's the vigilante & take pictures of me & will not help the police trying to find me, (comes up on the news)

next time i play through going to do it as a very bad man :D

by the time ive finished i probably get 80+ hours out of 2 runs at least

So after all of the fear about how terrible this game was going to be, you all seem to be quite enjoying it? Is it worth getting?

Yes I am really enjoying it now.

I actually think it is quite polished apart from the ridiculous vram requirements for ultra textures/shadows and MSAA. It seems even 3GB cards struggle. Apart from that and the odd water reflections I haven't noticed any other problems or bugs.

I am enjoying it more now. The gunplay is quite good I think.

Also, I managed to get it running at a constant 60fps with no slow downs or stutter (gpu usage is nice and low as well meaning low heat and no noise)

2x 670 sli - All ultra except textures and shadows, 1080p with FXAA. Looks good and runs silky smooth at a capped 60fps, never seen it drop yet since going from 4xMSAA to FXAA.

The only remaining issue is water reflections, for some reason as you move the camera the reflections appear and disappear as you look up and down the water. It looks stupid and I don't know what is causing it. I think it must be a bug. Does anyone else get this?

Same setup as me, I've got super sampling enabled in the config too which makes it look even better imo. There is a performance hit but with AA set to FXAA it's still more than playable. That's on Windows 8.1 64bit.

Hopefully bug fixes and driver updates will improve performance even more in the near future.

Having a right blast playing at the mo, fantastic game, quite glad I ignored all the moaners.

me 2, but lets face it everyone moans about performance on every game at launch now days ok, sometimes their right but some people go over the top :D

[/spoiler]

I had this issue after a fresh install of windows, i turned smaa something to just smaa and it was gone :)

Thanks for that mate sorted it out straight away :) Also turning textures from ultra to high seems to have sorted the framerate problem and I can get a steady 60 at 4x txaa. Now apart from the awful driving and cartoonish look in the daytime the game is playable. I still don't think its a shade on GTA V's Los Santos.

The game is more than playable for me, but at 1920x1200, with everything on high with FXAA, I sit around 30-50fps depending where I am. Now I'm reading posts from people with 7950s and 680s etc who claim to be on slightly higher settings and never drop below 60fps, what's the deal?

I have a 670gtx, 3570k @ 4ghz, 8GB ram and it's installed to a 840 EVO SSD. I don't at all mind how the game runs but I'm curious as to how people are getting 60fps? I also do not have Vsync on which ends up killing my framerate even with triple buffering.

Got the game running smoother now, 60fps on foot which dips to about 40fps whilst driving and now thankfully, stutter free. Using FRAPS for the fps so think that would take away 5fps.

Going to get into the story a little more.

So much for "hacking is your weapon", this just feels like your typical cover based third person shooter with occasional bits of hacking mixed it. The whole mechanic is just so shallow, the amount of environmental objects which you can manipulate feels very limited. Just from my initial few hours playing around in what the city had to offer (after upgrading my hacking abilities of course), I felt as If I had seen the entirety of what the game had to offer. Yes, causing blackouts and crashes may be fun the first time round, but it becomes very tedious very quickly, after all, you are just pressing Q as you move around the city (or a pipe mini-game, really?). It's still the best part of the game, using it in combat feels great - your never disorientated due to how the camera sways gently when moving from camera to camera, and being able to hack into a secret camera on a moving target is the absolute best way to cause chaos. But it does feel like the game just dissolves down to pressing Q when an enemy is near an explosive.

The rest of the game is just "fine", which is the problem. The game doesn't do enough as a whole to set it apart enough from other recent releases. Comparing it to other games is fine, as it does copy many other games (especially other Ubisoft games). The driving is OK, drifting makes it easier to turn around corners using K+M, side activities are interesting at first but ultimately just serve as a distraction which you'll only do once or twice, the story is so uninspired, but I didn't really know what to expect. Luckily Jordi did a great job, but all the other characters are cliche, generic tropes. It's a shame because the whole aesthetic surrounding Watch Dogs definitely has that "hacker" vibe to it - the glitchy cut-scenes and wire-frame map design, as well as many other small details to appreciate.

The game just feels "average" at best. It's not bad, but it could have been much better. I definitely like the concept, but it's limited. This will most likely get a sequel, and I bet that will be a great game. As it stands though, it's obvious that they spent the most time and effort and the hacking, and they pulled it off well.

Decided to bite the bullet and get this game, an hour in and already regretting it.

My main issue is DRIVING, if you can call it that. It seems I can only drive using the keyboard, mouse has absolutely no effect. To steer left and right, I have to use the A&D keys. And therein lies my problem. Evenly gently touching the keys, I'm veering all over the place. There also seems to be a slight lag in the response from touching the key to the car actually responding or so it seems. The only thing I can actually do properly, is the handbrake turns. But driving down the road and trying to avoid other vehicles is proving nay on impossible.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
