WB (DC) WB meging with Paramount ?

Wasn't Ikaris from Eternals sort of a version of Superman?

I think they kind of portrayed him like that in the movies. Reading his background he even more powerful than Superman because he basically a God and can come back to life even when killed. He can manipulate matter and control comic energy in his body. Not really a character i am all that familar with tbh.

What's gonna happen to jason momoa? Not that I think he's a great actor.

Not confirmed yet but basically Aquaman may be getting the boot as well but rumours is he may be back to play Lobo.

So why ask Cavill to announce his return as Superman back in October, but then pull the rug from under his feet and say they don't want him.

Thats exactly it. Why embarrass themselves like that and get fans hopes up. Whole thing is shambloic. I get they want to get off a fresh start because of new management but how chaotic are WB at managing their IPs. Allegedly Gunn wasnt even first choice. They wanted the Joker director to be the new head of the DCU. the difference DC to Marvel is, they sold out years ago so DC and their entire IPs belongs to WB. DC is a just shell of WB.

The latest batch of "my spies in Hollywood" types on Youtube (so take this as pure gossip/made-up rubbish) seem to think it was David Zaslav, rather than Gunn, who made the late decision to cut everyone and start fresh with new actors for the main roles, which apparently came as a shock to Gunn as that wasn't his original plan as he wanted to bring back Cavil, Gadot and Affleck and already had an agreement in place with Cavill (post Black Adam) so told Cavill he could do his announcement.

Again, its all gossip, make-believe, hear-say etc but it does make some form of sense regarding the Cavill announcement.

I hope the next Superman film is a flop. Love to see Gunn with some egg on his face.

While i dont dislike him, he hasnt done anything imo to warrant he will be the next Kevin Fiege or be remotely successful. Will just have to wait and see.

The current building PR "outrage" that I've seen online so far comes the belief that, having got rid of the existing cast they've decided to still keep Amber Heard & Ezra Miller (both of which have problematic PR issues) and the "Black Superman" film currently in production (surprisingly few seem to have an issue with a "Black" Superman, same as the positive response to Myles Morales being Black Spiderman since 2011) is being written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, who has said things that some people find to be horrifically racist (regarding white people), anti-American and anti-Religion (he's an atheist) which makes picking him to write a Superman film yet another difficult PR choice. So thats all the potential PR problems which DC have kept whilst getting rid of PR positives like Cavill, creating another PR problem for themselves.

Personally I don't rate Heard as an actress and her Aquaman 2 role could have been recast, Miller should never have had the Flash role in the first place and it should have gone to the TV version actor who is a far superior actor and I don't know enough about the writer of the new Superman film (other than a few google searches today) to know enough about how accurate the reports about him are, as everything has at least 2 sides.

It'll be interesting to see the difference in reaction from "Black Spiderman", which was well liked in the MCU multiverse, vs the upcoming reaction to "Black Superman" and I fear it's already building into yet another "the fans are all racist if they don't like it" situation from DC and yet another flop if it is.

I assume those two are being 'kept' because they have finished films to still come out. Whether they have roles long term is still up in the air. I'd be shocked if Flash isn't recast and I'll be honest I've never seen Aquaman so I don't even know who Heard plays.

Why I have so little faith, besides what I've said before (having a slate/plan is not a guarantee of success); We've seen the previous DC Worlds Finest before; Brandon Routh and Christian Bale, that were also ideal for a follow up into a DC Universe. Guess what happened there? Some others decided a reboot was better. Thankfully we got Cavill in Man of Steel.

But the difference then and here was, Brandon Routh wasn't asked to come back and then fired. So Cavill had an easier time for being the new Superman despite no issues from Routh as Superman either. The newest DCU Superman is going to be compared hard with Cvill, and because of the ways have gone down, more harshly reviewed. So not only does the new DCU film script will need to do well, but the casting will need to match or be superior to Routh and Cavill. That's a lot of excess damage control to take care of for a reboot that'll potentially make it easier to sink the new DCU that (you guessed it) leads into ANOTHER reboot.

But some fans only seem to think reboot is the only answer. *shrugs*

Don't understand all this ups and downs from dc
I mean black adam was good but man of steel was just another level

No wonder Marvel overtook dc, at least they had a vision of sorts
Marvel also had a unifying force that wasn't afraid of making changes as necessary (to the story overall or even specific stories if needed), but didn't do much to Actors portraing characters unless if there was no other option (Rhodey and Hulk). DC has had too many "Artisic Visionaries" in their mix that wanted to their own thing without wanting to play along with others. Now at DC it's just swung a different way, but it's still just another "MY" Artistic Vision; we have the slate by Gunn and Safran. The only real question, is whether they are actually as good as Feige in managing and guiding the new DCU (by being able to make changes if it means changing THEIR slate/plan) or if they're just being draconian with their new DCU slate/plan and it's just another "Artistic Vision" thing again.

Their support of Heard and Ezra Miller says it all. It's politics before everything else.

The DCU will continmue to be a complete disaster, and in any case outside of the hardcore fan base who even cares? Marvel, while that is in a a death spiral all of its own has far wider appeal and a lot more goodwill from the general auidence.

I think it's more that both actors are starring in huge films just about to be released with a combined budget of hundreds of millions spent on them and the studio can't cancel those films over the actions of these actors.

I think Heard is probably the easier of the two actors to have been replaced but even that would have led to expensive reshoots, whilst Miller is the star of an entire film so that would never be scrapped, so I don't think these decisions are specifically "political" right now but more financial.

Of course after their two films are released we'll see if both actors are kept once the studio doesn't "technically" need either to stay for financial reasons.

i will be fair - watch one of the reeve sup films over the hols, yeh it belongs in a period. but it was light hearted and fun.

the cavill ones were too dark, basically they tried to copy the dark knight and i just dont think it worked for me, i would start again but:

batman films (keep dark, like the dark knight / the batman) in fact carry on with "the batman"

superman films - make more light hearted, more fun - i.e. modern version of reeves, no more teenager with angst issues
