Weekend Football Thread 31-2 *spoilers*

lol Harry saying Fabregas' goal wasn't a good goal. He creates a myriad of chances every game as well as scoring

In fairness I agree, from a Spurs perspective it was a stupid goal to concede, not to take anything away from Fabregas, his dribbling and finish was lovely. It was the giving it away straight from kick off, two ridiculously poor challenges that makes it a bad goal to concede.

Today has made me change my mind about Drogba, he really is an ambassador for football.

Oh wait he dived for a penalty then scored a goal from an offside position

Didnt look a dive to me, as for the offside goal. In what way is that Drogba's fault? His job as a striker is put the ball in the net, its the assistant referees job to wave the flag if its offside.

Thought it was a clear cut penalty but he did look offside for his goal. Still excellently worked and finished though.

I thought there was contact but it was absolutely minimal and he just threw his entire body into the air like he'd been cattle prodded.

Got no time for him, he's just utter scum in my opinion and it's a sad indication of the cowardice in the game that he hasn't been banned for it.

I can't stand the man and his cheating. But he would walk into ANY team in the world, without a doubt.

Baz, would you rather I just told you what you want to hear?

Because it strikes me that if you hear something you don't like, you're straight on your high horse.

Funny things, opinions. Everyone has one. Just because I don't follow the other supporters on this board like sheep, doesn't mean i'm any less wrong. In fact, I think most just tell you what you want to hear to shut you up. :)

sounds a bit like that sometimes ;)

As for the league in general

Maybe against alll the odds Arsenal can keep on winning, even when they arent gifted at least two goals by bitter rivals lol

Chelsea are dependant on transfer window ban being at least suspended for Jan (although I dont see why, they are either guilty or not already). If the ACoN really affects them (and it would be stunning if it didnt with so many crucial players due to be away) this is the only reason they are likely to lose points - Im not sure what fixtures they have during this period though

Liverpool are alreayd out of it - at the best they can hope for losing the same amount of games that all the others do to the end of the season, and that would be a let off defensively Reina is their only saving grace, and he can only do so much

Man Utd will be found out at SB next weekend, our defence is creaking to say the least, and VDS is an astounding goalie but I cant see how we can compete at the back in our current form even if Fletcher plays mid week to get match practice

Obertan did well today for his 2nd game after being injured for so long and to me he looks a bargain for £3m, Valencia will also come good in time although the price we paid was probably too much, Im still praying for Hargreaves to come back as Utd miss him immeasurably

See its funny, even though I'm completely behind them at the moment, I just can't see Arsenal winning anything this year, despite the hype. It's like I've grown used to it, after our start two years ago. Despite how well we do, it's like I can't take any challenge of ours seriously. I guess its just the pessimist in me.

Really easy ones unfortunately, typical that they aren't playing any of the big 4 in that period afaik.

they have got better admittedly - but I wouldnt say that Chelsea's defence is rock solid yet - although few teams are able to test it consistantly enough

I will still keep my fingers crossed a few break through :D

Drogba is a cheat, but I have to say I've been impressed with him this season. I never really rated him before, a bully who dives a lot and didn't score enough or get assists. However with a more attacking manager rather than the negative poop that is Mourinho and since he's actually got on with the game more this year he's vastly improved. The amount of assists/goals he's got is pretty astonishing, more so compared to his previous few years than anything else.

Thing is he still dives and flops around, fakes injuries, but he's significantly better than even last season. Rather than a long ball going up to him and him flopping over as the ball comes in, he actually wins the ball turns and creates. He'll still flop over in the box, fake injuries to waste time and generally be a bit of a ****, but the fact he actually tries a lot more than he has for a few years has turned his game around completely. he's been incredibly effective and looks pretty damn good against really any quality of opposition.

I think a huge part of it is also having a real partnership with another player, which Mourinho never gave him, his turnover of strikers was ridiculous and he barely gave any strikers a real chance in the team. As I've said for years, 4-4-2 just lets your strikers work so much better and a great partnership can be the difference. Still think Grant was great, almost won the league, champs league final, only allowed to buy 2 players was it, Anelka and Ivanovich, who IMHO is a fantastic defender whose versatile, can play anywhere at the back afaik(is really a centre back isn't he?) and actually looks decent going up the wing aswell as scoring a few nice goals.

Lampard finding his scoring boots is bad for the rest of the chasing pack, once he gets going, well, 20goals a year can easily be the difference between winning the league, and coming 4th, let alone 2nd.

I forget which Chelsea fan it was on here saying Deco's utter crap......

@ liverpool
Didn't MU get 2 sent off in a defeat to Fulham last season?
Strange..

you know liverpool didn't get a single red card all season last year, and now we've got 3 in 2 games.

shows how much more pressure the players are under. a **** ref doesn't help though

I thought it showed that Carragher has forgotten that you're not allowed to use both arms to tackle :p

thought it was funny harry saying all 3 of arsenals goals were terrible , he was so bitter , i thought the first was a well taken goal.

i think spurs really shot themselves in the foot giving it all the talk all week in the papers.

i dont think its good for a manager to have his own newspaper column ,is harry the only one?

I don't think he literally meant they were terrible... rather he was saying Arsenal didn't make them, Spurs gifted them. Actually, come to think about it.... yeah probably bitter :}
