Weekend Football Thread **Spoilers**

Good game. Was impressed with Nani although there has to be some question marks over his consistency. Still think Chelsea will just nip it this year. I think they are capable of grinding the season and probably have the strongest central midfield in the Prem. Although I think they still need a creative player who can open up defences in the closest of games.

As for Utd, Im still not convinced we have enough strength in centre mid. If we are to go back into the market, it shouldn't be for a winger thats for sure

Need a center mid, a center half, a goal keeper and a top forward.

He hasnt addressed any of the real problems we had last year, in that we have one decent keeper but he is a million years old, we two top centerbacks and Johnny Evans, we have no real power in midfield, and only Rooney who is effective up front.

Don't think there is much wrong with Evans. Pique is probably the better of the two young Centre Halves we had but is slower than a slow thing. Not sure there are many 'established' centre backs who would settle for a place on the bench and if they do then I would question their commitment.

Centre Mid Yes

Centre forward ??? Yes but whos available at a decent price without their club demanding an unfair amount of the £80m Ronaldo money ???

if its that bad atpbx why did we win the premo last year, if it was that bad, chelsea, liverpool, arsenal must have been shocking, and they havnt addressed any problems that are noticible, maybe the market has been touch this year

lol at evra's penalty.

It was a foul on him for chelsea's second but you have to play to the whistle. Nice start to the season. Not convinced by the diamond though - we have no width especially if you start with ivanovic and essien on the right!

edit: and foster had a very poor game.

foster was very shakey, i will defend him in that he seemed to have a lot of pressure on him, from the press and the fans, and Capello being in the stands. he needs to learn to control it.

thoughts on charity shield match

Well just got back from wembley and feel united threw the game away. They had great possesion and moved the game well and kept pushing chelsea back in the first half.

Second half well, lets just say united were extremely lucky to pull the game back level then the penaltys were absolutely abysmal.

I agree play should of been stopped but it wasn't.

I'm surprised no one has picked up on Fletcher, he was so slow to track back once Chelsea were on the counter and then he suddenly though, oh **** I better track back. When he did he was very close to actually catching Lampard. If only he played to the whistle he would have prevented the shot.

Ah well :D

United were good, berb and rooney lookin good, shocking referee decision with Ballack, and shocking penalties from Utd.

All in all, i think its clear we are going to do fine without Ronaldo.

How was he supposed to know it was a dislocated shoulder? He should've allowed play to go on until it went out of play.

I think it was plainly clear to everyone on the pitch that it was serious injury, stopping the game was about the only thing the ref did right all game

It was a dislocated shoulder though, are ref's not allowed to blow for them then?

I don't think he's talking about Nani's injury but the Evra incident.
The one when he got got battered in the chest by Ballack, rolled about on the floor with a broken face, Chelsea played to the whistle and scored then Evra got up and complained, with his face fully repaired somehow;)

He could've easily been feigning injury. It's not as if he's the type of player to walk through challenges is it?

Unless it's an obvious head injury or the type that stops every player in their tracks, which usually indicates a serious injury, the ref should always allow play to go on.
