What film did you watch last night?

Just watched Dark Knight Rises... can't believe it took me this long but holy **** that is one hell of an epic, fantastically constructed movie with a great script and fantastic characterisation. One or two minor blemishes and silly bits, sure, but overall it just really, really worked for me.

9/10.

Anyone recommend a good recent horror flick? More supernatural rather than a hack n slash type?

Cabin In The Woods. By the end you will be fapping.

pitch black. a film of 2 halves that breaks from the norm. i usually find loads of films start off good and then go to crap. but this one starts off meh... and then gets much, much better. i'd give it a solid 7/10.

Killer Elite: 6.5/10!

Picked it up on a two for £10 Blu-Ray offer at Sainsburys, along with The Hurt Locker, and I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed. Not the best film of the genre by a long shot, but very enjoyable and good enough that I didn't feel like I'd wasted a fiver. Statham, De Nero, Owen and Strahovski, you can't go wrong.

Bonus too, as it's set in the early 80s it had two of my favourite previously owned cars in there. The Mk.III Cortina (I had the 2000E rather than the film's XLE) and the Mk.I Granada (I had the 3000 Ghia rather than the coupé in the film).

High Noon - 1952 western which runs in pretty much real time as a newly married marshal hears that his nemesis is due in on the next train. Cue an hour or so of building anticipation as he tries to get the townsfolk to help him out. This was really well put together and the tension mounts nicely. 4/5

Olympus Has Fallen.
Lots of action, some questionable CGI effects though but the combat scenes were quite good and the acting was also fairly enjoyable. Ideal lazy afternoon kind of movie.

Europa Report.
Big fan of Sc-iFi, more-so films like this, think Moon, Pandorum, Sunshine etc.

Many people didn't like the fast cuts and editing/camera work on IMDB it seems but I didn't have a problem with it, it gave it a bit more realism really. Other didn't like the ending calling it --should it have been actual events-- a failure to be a big deal, without spoiling it, of course it would be a huge deal.

Sound work was superb, what you'd expect from such a film.
