What film did you watch last night?

The Italian Job - "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off", well this film (the original) does just that. It is very entertaining and witty, a great British classic.

Die Hard 4.0

good...to a degree but the older die hards werent abnout immense action but about small clever action, followed by a big explosion.

clearly die hard ppl thought this was not enough and decided to start and continue through the film huge explosions and ott action (like the car going up ramp to hit helicopter, that could have been a boss finishing move but no... just menial part of the facade).

6/10

marathon man (1976)

never seen this before and i enjoyed it , i dont get what they was on about with the infamous dental scene , or did they cut parts of it on film 4?

anyway my rating 7.5/10

Gone Baby Gone.
10/10
One of the best films I've seen in a long time.
Everything was a joy to watch, the cast, location, the story, quality!
Well done Mr. Affleck.

Coraline:

Very enjoyable and surprisingly disturbing film generally geared at younger audiences. I think it's a shame that it's always going to be compared to A Nightmare on Elm Street because I found it much more enjoyable and very original.

A very solid 4/5

Pink Floyd - The Wall:

Having listened to the album a lot recently and really getting into it, I thought I'd give the film another chance having originally found it quite boring. There really are some amazing sequences in this film but it strangely departs from the music for brief instances or 'nothing in particular', which really wasn't needed. I also don't understand why they cut some of the music out entirely or partially. They cut one of the most chilling and relevant lines out too from Waiting for Worms ("would you like to send our coloured cousins home again, my friend?"), which was also puzzling.

I imagine the film would have been incredibly boring if I wasn't very familiar with the music and the story already, so I can only give the film a 4/5 as a fan of the music.

Either way, it's an English student's wet dream in terms of symbolism. Gustov, check it out!

Just watched The Godfather II.

Very good, but a very different style of film to much of what is around today. It's much more subtle, and slower. It also doesn't really have a beginning and an end, so much as showing a cross section of Michael's life. Very interesting.

Mmm, I would agree that it's 'interesting' but those films are just too slow for me to enjoy them properly.

Iron Man.

Another Stan Lee Marvel comics film, this time based on the character of the same name.

Found it fun, sound effects were good and gave the AV kit a good work out :)

I loved this film. Got it on DVD. Is one of the few films I have on DVD that I want to have on Bluray. Bit expensive at the moment mind.

Angels and and Demons

Really enjoyed this film
Good good. I've seen Da Vinci Code and loved that. Waiting to get both on Bluray. :)

Two very different films last night, The Machinist and Nick And Norah's Infinate Playlist.

The Machinist - fascinating, you have to know why he is how he is and what happened and will happen. Very attention grabbing from the begining. Obviously Bale loosing all that wieght for the role was amazing but his face with the cheekbones and jaw when he stares at himself in the mirror was haunting. Well filmed too (wouldn't know that it was all filmed in Spain). 4/5

Nick and Norah - stuck this on for a real change of pace. Can't remember the last time I watched two films back to back. Anyway, pleasant enough teenage comedy but nothing memorable. 2/5
