What film did you watch last night?

Surrogates

Hmmm, dunno what to make of it. Bruce Willis with hair. Think iRobot without the i. Filled an otherwise dull evening. The theme could have been done very well and could have been very thought provoking but it was very thin in the end.

I watched Smokin' Aces 2 - Assassins ball last night, and to be perfectly blunt it was gash.

...

that said it was a bit of mindless entertainment and it did the job, but i do feel that i have wasted about 90 minutes of my time.

I concur, just watched this and it wasn't very good, and i liked the first one :(

Apocalypto. Very disappointing. Starts well but loses its way after the first half hour. The rest of the movie is just one long, increasingly implausible chase scene!
My favourite [as in 'most inadvertently amusing'] scene from Apocalypto is near the beginning, where we see the protagonist go back to his dwelling, hang up the tapir carcass like a briefcase, and do the whole "Hi, Honey - I'm home!" thing with the wife and kid, as if he's just returned from a stressful day at a modern office.

It's quite possibly the clunkiest, most jarring attempt to establish empathy I've ever seen.

I just couldn't take it seriously after that.

It's a rather impressive film, though, taken as a purely visual spectacle.

Solaris

I really enjoyed it but I felt it sold itself a little short. Definitely think I'll be reading the novel sometime soon.

7/10.

9 - never even knew of it, kinda cool, naff ending, not as if they can have kids or anything :/

Yes Man - not bad, Jim goes OTT less than I'd dreaded.

point break

Swayze and Reeves conspire to pull off an overly dull and not exciting film full of holes, too much surfing, and general bad film making.

think of it like the fast and the furious, but in a surfer setting. except it doesnt really make sense, and id definately not try to watch this film again.

In the Shadow of the Moon - An outstanding film (documentary), showing the story of the Apollo missions to the moon. I may be a little biased but they don’t get any better than this.

Cedar Boys. A gripping tale of sex, drugs and violence in Australia's notoriously criminal Lebanese community!

How to Loose Friends and Alienate People

Saw it at the cinema and didn't like it at all, but seen it a couple of times on Sky since and it's warmed on me

Lucky number Slevin

Knew nothing about this before I watched it. I thought it was quite good and a little unexpected. Would have been better without the big names though IMO.

Just watched Thirst and have to say it's a very very good film. A great take on the Vampire genre. Almost as good as Let The Right one In.
