What film did you watch last night?

Blue Ruin 5.5/10

The opening sequence made me think that I was in for a real good film. But I finished this film feeling quite disappointed with the direction that the film took. I felt it just didn't work.

Dawn of the Apes. 8/10

The CG was absolutely excellent, as was the mocap. Felt like any scene without Caeser was a bit boring though.

Enjoyed this. I went in thinking that this wouldn't at all be my kind of film and for the first ten minutes I was beginning to think I was right. A world with talking, semi civilised apes just seemed absolutely laughable. But. The more it went on the more I warmed to the whole thing and then it got really interesting once the humans arrived in the story. It had a good, if not entirely original story and the more it went on, the more it won me over. It was funny in parts and emotional in parts (which when I entered the cinema I didn't think was possible!).

A solid 8/10 and in my top 5 for the year.

How to Train your Dragon 2 - much like the first one, but not quite as good. 6/10. Its not on the same level as Toy Story or Finding Nemo though.

Brick Mansions. 6/10. Not bad, the guy who manages to jump about all over the place is very good, in that you must have to be very fit to manage to do all of that.

Paul Walker, manages not to bad a performance as well. I believe this was his last film? as there is a tribute notice for him at the end.

As for the film, not bad, same old to be fair, but was okay.

Is this the remake of District 13?

Dawn of the apes.

The first one suprised the heck out of me, pulled those strings that make you go ahhhh..

Typical origin tale, allways the one you love with rose tinted glasses, the sequel never quite having that loving feeling of the first.

Ofcourse im alluding to it does exactly that, wow bleeming amazing, strings pulled yet again.

No masterpeice, but my heart says more, the next one will be more of the same.

"Funny in parts" like a rage monkey dual wielding assault rifles whilst screaming on horseback?

Whilst firing accurately too, despite having never fired one until the day before, and having no training in changing mags, removing the safety, chambering a round, aiming etc etc :D

Is this the remake of District 13?

Yeap, a shot for shot remake with the same French Free-Runner actor too!

Fast and furious, still pretty good turn the mind off film
Fast and furious 6, not so good
Gravity, interesting but not great, should have caught it at the Imax
Inside man, absolutely fantastic film

I was disappointed with Gravity.
After all the hype I expected great things, but found it a little weak.
I had no empathy for Bullock's character and this was the major issue.
Inside Man was better.

I think the new fast n furious is his latest ? I think he was 3/4 filming it when he died.

Just half way through transformers 4 , the usual transformers action I suppose something to watch when bored.

Starred Up

British film about a young offenders moving up to the same prison that his father's in. Very gritty, not a massive amount to of dialogue which adds to the unfriendly setting of prison, well acted. Not a massive amount of back story on the characters but it's pretty easy to get the picture of who's who and why etc. It's the sort of film that will go largely unnoticed which is a shame as it's a pretty good portrayal of a nasty situation.
