What film did you watch last night?

I've always said to people if you watch this movie, you will never turn to drugs! It was a good movie yet horrid at same time.

To be fair, it did make me reconsider certain choices when I watched it as a teen, but I soon got over it. :p

As Above, So Below.

Wasn't really expecting much, especially looking at the Rotten Tomato reviews! However, it was brilliant! Genuinely creepy, a good few scares and the premise was actually original. 8/10.

ALIEN Directors Cut

On Sky HD

Haven't seen this one. Also haven't seen Alien since the standard definition days. The film isn't as scary from what I once remember. That and the fact so many peoples TV's had so much black crush from what I remember seeing this in the 80s and 90s. Could only see little traces of the Alien.

Great rich black/silvery detail and the fact you could see the Alien before people died. More so it was a little strangely amusing seeing the Alien reach out for Dallas. Like a peeka-boo.

Yucky seeing Brett getting turned into an egg… While Dallas was barely alive.

Love the effect of models in films from back then. The creepy muted cyan mist around and about the ship. Although… The chest burster is still terribly uncomfortable to watch after these past decades. Especially more so all over the pristine white clothes and food containers filled with blood.

I've not seen the director's cut. Alien is an incredible film, though. Absolutely seminal.

The Raid 2

Holy ****!!!! 9/10

I thought the first one was bonkers, but this just went to another level. Makes any other action film look like Bambi.

Yeah totally agree it was pretty mad but in a good way. I personally liked clawhammer girl :D what a badass

Watched "The Guest" pretty good was surprised how much I enjoyed it 8/10

Maleficent.

Wasn't sure I'd like this going by the trailer but actually turned out to be really good and some unexpected outcomes. It was funny, dark and visually beautiful at the same time.

Neat!

Finally got around to seeing Guardians of the Galaxy, despite not liking the look of it from trailers. God damn I loved it, so much fun, solid action all the way, well timed humor and a killer soundtrack. 9/10.

Drax stole the show for me and the "jackson pollock" line had me me howling in the cinema.

Road trip, still a funny film. 7/10
Alien resurrection, it starts so well and could be such a good story, but instead, 1/3rd of the way through it takes a dive off a cliff. 4/10

How To Train Your Dragon 2

Very good, but not quite the dizzying heights of the first for me.

The insinuation of Gobber being gay got a massive lol out of me.

The musical number in the middle was crap and out of place, also reminded me of the issue I have with Vikings always being portrayed with Scottish accents.

Top drawer CGI for sure though, looking forward to the third.

7.5/10
