What film did you watch last night?

Avatar - thought it would test the new 3D set up and I was not disappointed, the film looked fantastic. The film itself I hadn't seen since the cinema and didn't really miss it but the effects were worth the three hours! 4/5

Avatar 3D is the only film i have ever watched that as made me go wow....Truly stunning in 3D.

Everything else has looked crap and just gave me a headache.

Riddick - slightly disappointing. Not as good as Pitch Black. I quite like the start, where he is overcoming the environment, then when the mercs turn up it is all looking good, but I can't put my finger on why, but from then on it just doesn't work for me and it kind of falls apart. I think maybe it slightly rushes things a bit. I'll give it 6/10

Solomon Kane.

Pretty poor by all standards. Some nice cinematography and costume design though.

That said it was an enjoyable enough yarn as I was able to see past the poor quality script, acting, fight sequences, casting, props, story and narrative because I was waiting for something cool to happen which is just as well because it had an ok plot twist.

3/10

Space Pirate Captain Harlock - 3D Bluray (7/10)
Good ole pirate romp in space, decent anime film, watched with English dub rather than reading subs.
3D, as you would expect from an animation, is spot on

Nitro Circus - 3D Bluray (7/10)
If you like Jackass and visit PH forums then this is great.
3D is a bit iffy, best part to watch in in the first 10mins when they are practicing on a huge track and there are monsters, quads, bikes flying all over the show.

More of a docu than a film.

Forced to watch Sex Tape at the cinema after I told the GF 300 was a romantic comedy :D.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and was enjoyable for the most part. There are a few goofs that tech minded people would easily spot and the apple product placement was extremely annoying!

Overall, 6/10

Maleficent.

Wasn't sure I'd like this going by the trailer but actually turned out to be really good and some unexpected outcomes. It was funny, dark and visually beautiful at the same time.

Neat!

I've just watched this (titles scrolling as we speak) and I thought exactly the same as you, was very unsure but pleasantly surprised. Total agreement.

So tonight I watched Lucy .... It started out ok ish but just got more disappointing as it went on really I'm sure there are easer ways to get a USA stick ???? 5.5/10

Finally got around to seeing Guardians of the Galaxy, despite not liking the look of it from trailers. God damn I loved it, so much fun, solid action all the way, well timed humor and a killer soundtrack. 9/10.

Drax stole the show for me and the "jackson pollock" line had me me howling in the cinema.

Completely agree with you I wasn't expecting much but was really s uprising definitely a 9/10

How I Live Now. Post-apocalyptic (World War III? Nuclear bomb in London? Terrorists? Never fully explained but it's unimportant) teen film with young lovers separated in the post bomb kerfuffle. She treks back to find him. I've just looked at some reviews, and it seems many reviewers didn't like the romance-y stuff. I would say I borderline ignored it, though not wilfully - I was just caught up in the post-apocalyptic, wartime stuff, and the aloneness of it, and the incredible scenery. It's set in England and the majority of it takes place outdoors on hills and in forests and it just looks absolutely beautiful. I suppose if I really think about it, it's fairly standard post-apocalyptic stuff as well, but I like that, so I guess it gets a bit of a pass from me. There are some blind alleys in the plot as well, and things that happen that aren't at all well developed or explained, which was a shame.

Not great, but wonderful to look at, and if you like post-apocalyptic stuff you might enjoy it.

How random, I watched the exact same film last night. Agree with what you said about it, not much to add...decent movie and definitely worth a watch. The romance stuff isn't rammed down your throat which makes it tolerable.

Lets Be Cops.

Enjoyed this a lot, it was a daft bit of comic relief, nothing that we haven't all seen before but funny all the same.

7.5/10
