What film did you watch last night?

A large component is also the way he was built up by other characters, to be a man in love with chaos, wanting to see the world burn with no care for material possession or even his own life.

However, he fed directly into Nolan's realistic portrayal of the Batman world and made a genuinely real life version of Joker.

Sin City A Dame to Kill For
The usual blend of sweet visuals and action with the added bonus of Eva Green, a lot of Eva Green :D

7/10.

XMen, days of the future past.
7.5/10.

I'd liked to have seen more of life in 2023.

Blink and Quicksilver were without doubt, my favourite characters.
Sentinal of the future were unbeatable and brilliant.

That opening sequence is up there with the best.

It seriously is such a great opener which could easily be a worthy ending to a movie... and they open with it! The balls.

I can't even begin to imagine what it took for 'huge jacked man' to get so ripped but you can see it's took a good 13 years of gradual build.

12 Years a Slave 9/10

I made the original thread on this movie last year but never got around to watching it till now :p

I liked those occasional scenes where the camera would just linger doing nothing, it puts you there in the moment. Didn't think Cumberbatch was necessarily a good choice for such a movie. But the acting overall was brilliant and really makes you feel anger at the way these people treated their slaves.

Cumberbatch is a tricky one because he shows up and your brain is just going ooh look it's Benedict Cumberbatch. Much like when Brad Pitt turned up and and all you see is Brad Pitt.

Few films watched over the past few days

American Hustle - Very good. Love a good con man flick. 8/10

Don Jon - Awful, awful ,awful. I watched the first 30 mins and gave up. Self indulgent tripe with hugely unlikable characters. 1/10

Wolf of Wall Street - Fantastic, visceral and superbly acted. 9/10

Watched a few Sci-Fi films over the weekend, both of which annoyed me in many ways but mainly that they both fall into the same trap....if you create a set of rules, then for gods sake stick with them.

Godzilla It was ok, and the beginning was I felt a genuinely moving moment between the man and wife, but is soon went downhill from there.

At least the Matthew Broderick Godzilla was daft and a bit tongue in cheek, the new one really wasn't, but it wasn't good enough to be genuinely serious either.

6/10

Lucy Where to start....oh at the end, it was quite simply a very bad ending to a very average film.

5.5/10

Wow Zoot you were kind there with a 6/10 Godzilla was awful even my butt was hurting from having to sit and watch it.

Cool runnings... ages since I've watched this and since John Candy was/is my all time favourite comic actor I had to introduce him to my 9 year old son and this was the perfect movie. Laughs, suspense, and great ending. So after 27 years I still rate it a good 8/10.

Sin City 2

Good first 3/4, ok, if slightly deflated last 1/4.
Enjoyable fun, but not up to the standards of the first film.

Definitely worth watching, as if you needed my recommendation :D

Babylon 5: In the Beginning

Obviously a TV movie.
Can't believe I hadn't seen this before. Quality if you're into B5.

Next.

Simple hook played out well, nice twist at the end if you were paying attention earlier in the film.

Better than average, worth a go if you've not seen it before.

A Walk Among the Tombstones

Good film. A slow burn and whilst it is very much a "Taken" clone I thoroughly enjoyed. 8/10.

:)

Its only resemblance to Taken is that it stars Neeson. Otherwise nothing like it. Was an ok thriller, but the pace was to slow for me, and it made me feel quite depressed watching it. Strange. 5/10

I watched The Signal, for such a low budget I really thought it was a great bit of sic-fi. Tad slow in places but the mood kept me gripped to find out what happened next.

Reminded me of the old TV series the outer limits.

I watched the first half of Donnie Darko: The Director's Cut. So far it's not as good as the original. There's scenes that aren't needed, which disrupt the pacing, and the music isn't as good. The extra bits aren't really adding anything so far. For me, a lot of the beauty of the theatrical cut was that it was a mystery what was going on, so unless the second half is going to blow my mind with some tremendous explanation of this, I do not think I will be converted.
