What film did you watch last night?

Paddington

5/10

All a bit....meh...schmaltzy and not especially funny. Younger audiences would probably enjoy it.

My kids (8 and 5) and my mother in law (59 lol) loved it. I'm yet to see it.

I watched Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. George Clooney's directorial debut with a script by Charlie Kaufman. It's the "true" story of Chuck Barris, a successful American tv producer (he invented Blind Date and loads of other shows) who claimed in a memoir that he was an assassin for the CIA. Very unreliable narrator. Pretty good all told. Not spectacular, but entertaining enough.

The Equalizer.

I thought this was a great film. If you go into expecting it to be like the Edward Woodward version you will be disappointed. It's much better to think of it as an entirely new film. That way you will enjoy it much more. I hope they make the sequel. 8/10

Pacino gangster double bill , last night :)

Carlitos Way 8/10
Stunning performance from coked up Sean Penn, love his curly wig, and Luigi Mario makes an appearance as Benny Blanco, you know, from the Bronx.

Donny Brasco 7/10
Enjoyable flcik, but can't take Depp seriously now, since images of Wonka and Sparrow keep popping up in my mind. Solid acting from Pacino as the Mafioso doormat.

Back to the Future 2 and 3 over the weekend, number two is a fantastic time travel film with a rounded approach to consequences and mirrors the first very well, a fine sequel. Number three tries to have a bit more fun but overall not as good. 5/5 and 4/5

Number two almost looses points for the absurdity of the tech in 2015 (they have flying cars and faxes)but hindsight is always painful with sci fi films that predict the near future.

watched VHS - Ive seen a lot of movies and somehow passed this one up previously.
Quite enjoyed it - bit violent and a bit of nudity (so chicks might not like it) - but I thought it was really quite cool; was like having 6 movies in one.

7/10

found footage type - quality isnt that great (they make it look like a vhs - but interesting storys).
