What film did you watch last night?

Rewatched a couple of films I haven't seen for years.

Darkman - Fabulous idiotic nonsense. Extra points added for the cool hat.

7.5/10

The Parallax View - I have a real love of 70's American cinema, especially for films that were gritty, bleak and played on conspiracy or paranoia. Should probably get more points for the haunting soundtrack and Warren Beatty's impressive hair.

8/10

Oscar Nominated Stuff continues.

Selma.. 7/10

Martin Luther King offering. This years black apologist film for the oscars after 12 years a Snore. I would personally see a documentary on the events of those days that a Film. But what ever floats your boat. Cuba gooding Jnr. Tim Roth, Oprah Winfrey to name a few.. Lots of big faces in the film which is fine but not Oscar worthy unless its the apologist vote again...

Watched Time Lapse last night. It was an interesting premise and I really enjoyed it. A very solid 8 out of 10. After the film, thinking about how the camera would work messes with your mind a little.

Just seen Mark Kermode raving about Babadook like it's the second coming... Wasn't expecting that. Is it a properly good film then? I need a film to watch on Tuesday with the other half and I have a tenner voucher for blinkbox to use up, so looking at what to get(between this and Gone Girl)

Opinions about Kermode not needed... Whatever you think of him, it is still a respected critic calling it the best film of last year!

Cheers.

Opinions are mixed, even among his podcast listeners. Some on here have said it's great, others terrible.

I found it impossible to get past one of the most annoying kids in cinema history. I wanted the little **** to die horribly.

21 jump street - Silly comedy flick that you can't help but like. Enjoyed it enough to get the sequel to watch tonight. 6.5/10.

Despicable me 2 - very enjoyable sequel, I actually think it was a bit better than the first film. Looking forward to the minions movie now! 7/10

Multi-cinema weekend.

50 Shades of Grey

Complete and utter dross. Cheesy as hell, terrible acting from both leads, and less sexual than many other films that don't even have sex as the main theme.

3/10, only because some of the lines were so bad I laughed.

Big Hero 6

Good stuff!! Dat fist bump, hahaha!

7/10

Selma 5/10

I thought that the subject was really interesting and that the acting was superb throughout but there was something about the film that just didn't click. For that reason I found it really hard to engage with, great film on paper but just didn't work for me.

Badabook is amazing for cinephile's which I would personally say I am. If you aren't, Gone Girl is just as enthralling at base level as it is in its subtext (it's view on victimising media and satirical mockery of feminism).

Project Almanac

2/10 and the 2 points is only because of the pretty brunette

I'm a time travel fan, but even I couldn't stomach it. It's a very very VERY poor back to the future. To make matters worse it's one of those films shot through one of the characters camcorders.

It's rubbish!

Had a bit of a movie weekend and watched 3 films.

The Theory of Everything was great. The whole cast were very good, but Eddie Redmayne was just superb; an amazing portrayal of Stephen Hawking. 9/10

One Day. (After spending the night together on the night of their college graduation Dexter and Em are shown each year on the same date to see where they are in their lives).
Slightly predictable but still a good movie, with a fine performance from Jim Sturgess. 6/10

Birdman. I didn't really enjoy it but thought that it was quite interesting, and interesting is probably the best way to sum it up. 4/10

Nightcrawler 7/10 - Thrilling, dark and satirical. I don't really get on well with films where I don't like the main character but Jake Gyllenhaal did a great job.

Gone girl 8/10 - Suspense mystery drama thing. Great acting from Rosamund Pike. Worth watching just to see Emily Ratajkowski's boobs.
