What film did you watch last night?

Downfall. 9/10

Yeah we've all seen the meme clip a million times but this is a superb film, gripping from start to finish and doesnt feel over two hours long at all.

I've got that recorded on my pvr but haven't got round to watching it yet.

I have got round to watching Chinatown. Really good. Great soundtrack. Jack Nicholson has such a great voice.

Shaun the Sheep 6/10. It was filled with good innocent gags but for me there was just something missing that Curse of the Wererabbit had, just missing some really good jokes. It was still very clever for what is effectively a silent film.

Selma 8/10. Had me hooked throughout and the characters were all fascinating. Really great lead performance and he really nailed the accent.

Kingsmen 9/10

Wasn't going to bother with this but so glad we did on a spur of the moment trip.
Super cheesy in parts, super funny too, Nicely filmed OTT action scenes. S.L. Jacksons character got a bit annoying but really an unexpected gem of a film. Perfect spy film spoof type affair.

Wolf Children 9/10

If you can tolerate anime films then definitely watch this one. It's quite an emotional film and beautifully executed. Gets rated 8.2 on IMDB, which I believe is a fair representation.

Synopsis (Not really spoilers but tagged so in case anyone doesn't like reading them :p )
The theme of the film is the love between parents and children. The story covers 13 years and begins with a 19-year-old college student named Hana who encounters and falls in "fairy tale-like" love with a "wolf man." After marrying the wolf man, Hana gives birth and raises two wolf children—an older sister named Yuki who was born on a snowy day, and a younger brother named Ame who was born on a rainy day. The four quietly lived in a corner of a city to conceal the existence of the "wolf children," but when the wolf man suddenly dies, Hana decides to move to a rural town far removed from the city.

Panic Room

7/10

Was alright, nothing amazing

Saw this years ago, but recorded it when it was on the tv recently and watched it last night. Considering how little there is to this film, people stuck in a safety room with thieves outside, for such a simple concept the suspense is really good and keeps you intrigued. Good thriller. 7/10.

Chef.

Watched this yesterday afternoon. An enjoyable film with a few laughs along the way. Would certainly recommend for others if you're after a light hearted film.

Kingsman : The Secret Service - 8.5 / 10

I would have probably overlooked this if not for some of the feedback on here, and I must say what a great film! :D

To say it's a spoof doesn't do it justice, sure it has plenty of comedy and lampoons the old Bond/Spy movies, but pays homage to them too and is a serious enough film to stand up in it's own right.

Very entertaining!

Seems ive had some posts deleted... anyway...

been to see 2 Films in 2 days.

Kingsmen. 9/10 Very good, very British spy romp. Good fun.

Jupiter Ascending 7/10 it was alright. It had all the VFX and characters but it its hard to pack it all in a short film. Thankfully no sequels tho. Beautiful Spaceships but blurry too fast action sequences that went on too long.

Unforgiven. Clint Eastwood is brilliant. His worn down nature and grizzled appearance, and then his transformation to a vengeful force of nature. Terrifying.

Jupiter Ascending 3D - 3D was pretty good but was a pretty standard film overall, mila kunis was good to look at though :D 6.5/10

Whiplash - 7/10, good but not great. I get the impression this film is more one for the critics due to its style or perhaps you have to be a musician to really appreciate it. Good to see JK simmons in a leading role, though he will always be Vern Shillinger

I've just watched Back To The Future with my 8 year old daughter. She enjoyed it, thogh she got a bit bored in the middle and obviously all the 1950s references go even futher over her head than mine, but she got her head round the time travel paradox drama, and understood that side of things.

For me, the film is perfect. It's so well told. The scene towards the end with the time machine and the lightning bolt is brilliant, the music, the tension, such a good build up.

Big Eyes (I) (2014)

A drama about the awakening of the painter Margaret Keane, her phenomenal success in the 1950s, and the subsequent legal difficulties she had with her husband, who claimed credit for her works in the 1960s.

Another great film from Tim Burton starring the awesome Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams, based on the fascinating true story of Margaret Keane.

Highly recommended
8.1/10

The theory of Everything 7/10

Yeah well its fairly boring to be honest. Very well acted, incredibly infact but its boring and unless you are fascinated by Hawking you can safely skip it.
