What film did you watch last night?

Fast & furious 7

4/10

Ridiculously cheesy, cliched and over the top. They had a decent bad guy in Jason Stathem yet he was overshadowed so much by all the teamfapping he was hardly in it.

Expect the next one in this never-ending ridiculously cheesy, cliched and over the top cash-cow soon.

I thought the same. Shame as the the last film I thought was quite good, probably the best from the series.

Fast & furious 7 just got a bit boring with all the explosions, things that just could not happen in real life (way to much) and a weak story.

Already is an over the top cash cow tbh.

First one was the best imo.

Yeah. I watched this last night. Really enjoyed it. Kept thinking about Stifler though. :o

Going to watch this tonight looks pretty good!

Also watched this at the weekend, excellent film but a few continuity errors really broke the immersion.

Mainly they survive a month at sea and you never see them drinking fresh water or having a supply. Also a total lack of stubble on two of the survivors while at sea apart from the moustache/goatee area.

watched what?

The Idiots - surprisingly moving Danish low budget film about a group of people who let out their inner idiot and pretend to be severely mentally and physically disabled in public. I remember it caused a bit of controversy when it came out and had some very short but 'strong' scenes in. On the whole it is one that will stay with me for a while. The tension in some scenes was amazing.

Obvious usual warnings about subtitles for those that don't like and the handheld camera can be a bit funky too but that was Lars Von Trier's intention.

5/5

Taken 3, the worst of the series, they probably should have stopped after the first film. The second was mediocre compared to the first and this was worse.

12 Angry Men (1957)

The defense and the prosecution have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young Spanish-American is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. What begins as an open and shut case of murder soon becomes a mini-drama of each of the jurors' prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused, and each other. Based on the play, all of the action takes place on the stage of the jury room.

No.7 on imdb's top 250 films, this is an absolute classic.

Great acting, especially from Henry Fonda, atmosphere and script, just a brilliant film

35 mins into Rock of Ages

This is truly god awful stuff.

Does Mr Cruise redeem it? Should I persist?

edit- the acting was nightmarishly bad but the set pieces and Mr Cruise saved it. 7/10

Cruise really does make the absolute best of what he has got. His singing would stand up on the west end. His body movements and rock star strutting is really accurate.

He may be a nut case but I do end up liking nearly all of the movies he is in.

I finally got round to watching Guardians of the Galaxy. It was pretty good. Some good action and generally good dialogue. It reminded me of things like The Fifth Element and Firefly - sort of like a grimy Star Wars, I guess.

jupiter ascending

Saw the poor reviews but thought ""hey I love sci fi how bad can it be?"

The answer to that is bloody awful.

Just such a mess and can't make up its mind what it wants to be not to mention that Kunis really struggles to be a leading lady.

Garbage.

3/10

Mad Max Fury Road.

Film is INSANE. It's the best action film I've seen in a while. The action was grounded realistic didnt look cgi, and looked dangerous. They way it was filmed and shot was not like your usual run of the mill action films. Great little character moment's in between as well.

The world building was excellent, there's load's of little detail's and thing's going on that weren't really necessary and you never normally get from these films. Lots of show and not telling.

It's like one long thrill ride that doesn't let up and yet doesn't get boring or dull.

Yeah the cars were all real, they made them all and blew them up without computer effects iirc. The interview with the cast was a while back and they talked about that on the radio.
