What film did you watch last night?

Law Abiding Citizen - 8.5/10

For some reason I've never seen this before but it was on film 4 last night so gave it a go.
Really enjoyed it, Ok a little far fetched in places but kept me Watching till the end.

Taken 3, the worst of the series, they probably should have stopped after the first film. The second was mediocre compared to the first and this was worse.

I thought 3 was pretty good, much better than the second.

Yeah this is a good movie, the ending is good :D

Step Brothers - 9/10

Absolutely hilarious my face was hurting from laughing so much pretty much all the way through it, fantastic comedy!

jupiter ascending

Saw the poor reviews but thought ""hey I love sci fi how bad can it be?"

The answer to that is bloody awful.

Just such a mess and can't make up its mind what it wants to be not to mention that Kunis really struggles to be a leading lady.

Garbage.

3/10

You're being generous with a 3. I couldn't even finish watching it, I give it a 1 and I'm being generous too.

Ex Machina. One word: wow!

A seriously good film with a decent tension building soundtrack too!

The 'villain' is perhaps a little 1 dimensional (2?), we see that when there is two lines devoted to him about how he strews the blonde guys quote to say he is god

Second point, when he grabs a beer from teh fridge the fridge didn't close properly. If I spotted it, everyone spotted it lol!

Third point, I think this is probably an example of how AI will form its core set of 'morals' based on the creator's. In this case it was based on success for itself and acomplishing its own goals, this is shown by the end result

AI is scary, there's no scenario I can think of where its own self preservation comes below anything else. If it has any goal, even to protect humans, well, how can it protect humans if it's about to die. It must therefore do what it can to maintain life, even if that means kill humans lol. Paradox.

First time director as well :)

Aye, but he's not new to the film industry!

Chappie (2015)

In the near future, crime is patrolled by a mechanized police force. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.

After really enjoying District 9 many years ago I was really looking forward to this but sadly felt it wasn't in the same league and overall a bit of a let-down, die antwoord should really stick too what-ever it is they do as acting really isn't their calling imho.

A disappointing

Ex Machina (2015)

Caleb, a 26 year old coder at the world's largest internet company, wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to Nathan, the reclusive CEO of the company. But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he finds that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world's first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl.

WoW, this certainly made-up for the disappointing Chappie production.
Fantastic film with some stunning cinematography and it was great to see Domhnall Gleeson starting to get the recognition he deserves.

Highly recommended

Project Almanac

Saw the trailer to this last year and always wanted to get round to seeing it. Actually quite enjoyed it, though mostly for the film maker's take on time travel and how paradoxes are met in that film world.

There were plenty of goofy lines but the special effects and acting were generally good and like Earth to Echo, fairly paced through the acts.

Expect a predictable tale and plot holes though and some questionable science with a certain games console... Otherwise an interesting movie.

Like Stars On Earth - Indian drama about a young dyslexic boy who is shipped off to boarding school by his strict father when he feels he is purposefully disrespectful. A special needs teacher soon starts at the new school and mentors the young lad. The film is excellent, if a little predictable and, being Indian, has a few too many songs! It certainly tugs at the heart strings though. 4/5

I rewatched

Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America - The winter soldier and Thor -The dark world.

The first is defo the better, funnier, film but they certainly were all good to rewatch now i understand the whole Marvel universes and the tie ins more. I think ill watch all 3 ironman's (men) next :P

Project Almanac

Liked it but felt a bit rushed at the end. Kind of a cross between the Chronical and Butterfly effect, but no where near as good.

solid 6.7 / 10

Ex machina

Liked this a lot, left me wanting more when it finished which is always the sign of a decent film.

8.5 / 10

Hot tub time machine 2

Dracula Untold

7/10

Not too bad certainly better than the train-wreck that was I-Frankenstein.

Law Abiding Citizen

8.8/10

One of my favourite films in this genre. Little over the top but hey! :D I was rooting for Butler the whole way through.
