What film did you watch last night?

Mad Max: A stunt laden car chase movie where Max seems to be the supporting character to Theron's Furiosa. Apart from the odd growling line, Tom Hardy seems to spend most of his time looking bemused. For such a good actor, he doesn't seem to have much screen presence in this. In terms of stunts, effects, and cinematography, it looks great and is entertaining as long as you put your brain in neutral, but it seems to lack the gritty charm and soul of the original. Nicolas Hoult is good as always.

It's a summer popcorn movie, and as long as you're not expecting more than that, it's reasonably entertaining if you like to watch things go boom.

I have just watched "The Guest" (2014). OMG how did this film pass me by. If you ever wanted to relive a 1980s synth pop teen horror this has got to be on your list. Ever pour of this film oozes "cheese" and a predictable story line that makes you know what is going to happen next! The film starts off good and just pumps itself up to the point where you can barely believe what you're watching.... it a 10/10 from me, a "must watch".... Believe me you won't regret it if your a fan of the genre ;) If you don't like it "you just don't get it" :)

Drones. Tension rises as the USAF prepares to interrupt an Afghan birthday party with a Hellfire missile. Should they have asked for an invitation first? You be the judge.

6/10.

Disconnect. A sober morality play about the perils of our over-connected culture and its obsession with social media. 7/10.

Never realised only fools was a film

7/10 Pretty good movie only knew it was a true story when I got to credits at the end, some very hard to watch scenes in it, but worth it

Watched this last night, very hard to watch at parts. Allegedly it follows what happens pretty close to the real events.

Terrifying.

8/10

Kajaki. British soldiers in Afghanistan stumble upon a minefield, with horrific consequences.

Highly accurate portrayal of a true event which occurred in 2006. I've seen a lot of nasty stuff over the years so I'm reasonably desensitised to graphic depictions of violence, but even I found this film difficult to watch at times. It's worse because you know it actually happened.

Corporal Mark Wright was posthumously awarded the George Cross for gallantry, having died of his wounds en route to a field hospital. 8/10.

Ex Machina. Really enjoyed this... beautifully produced and realised, creating a mesmerising atmosphere throughout. There were enough little twists to keep it interesting to the end. 9/10

Still Alice - dust particles must have landed in my eyes several times throughout this film.
The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951) - more cheesy than I remembered

The Amazing Captain Nemo (6/10)

Camp 70's sci-fi film, enjoyed it though, reminded me a lot of the 'Voyage to the bottom of the sea' series.

Has Burgess Meredith in it, probably a bit skint after Rocky :D

So I'm someone who has never actually watched Star Wars and have avoided it for years. All of my friends can never believe it when I say I haven't seen it, now it's time to give it a go.

Would someone be able to clarify the order of films as I'm a bit confused?

Thanks :)

There is a thread for that somewhere.

But I'd say just watch 4,5.6 then if you still want to watch the new prequels.

Is it specifically a Star Wars thread? Not sure what to search.

I've seen all sorts of weird suggestions of orders it's a bit of a nightmare lol.

Thanks though :)

That's one suggestion!! I would have no idea about that at all. The order you have said does appear to be the most common though I believe.
