What film did you watch last night?

28 Weeks Later

Being a big zombie fan and having loved the original film I do enjoy watching this every time. This does mean, however, that I overlook some stupid plot lapses and overuse of Carlyle character which was totally unnecessary and I can't see how anyone would think that it could add anything to the film. I do love the directing and atmosphere the film creates though and it has some really good set pieces in it, such as helicopter scene that still to this day turns me into a neanderthal type who screams "**** yeah!!!" at the screen. So overall an enjoyable package with weak plot and less humanism that the original but still deserving of 7/10.

Thought it started brilliantly, very tense, but got steadily worse as the film progressed which is a shame because I LOVE my zombie flicks, but only the proper zombies, none of this infected with a virus crap.

I found the 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later zombies far more horrifying and far more realistic than the traditional "slow motion" zombies who somehow manage to catch people despite moving at the stupendous rate of an inch an hour.

The Corporation. Brilliant Canadian documentary about the massive power of modern corporations and their shocking legal, ethical and moral abuses.

I dunno, I just prefer the traditional OMG HE'S JUMPED OUT OF THE CLOSET!!! type zombies, like the ones in Land of the Dead, but still, you're right, how the hell do they manage to catch people??!! Certainly deserves a rolleyes!

But those aren't zombies, they're the infected. To be fair, both types scare the pants off me, but there's something really scary about slow moving zombies. It's like they'll never stop but you have to so they'll catch you and kill you eventually!

someones over reacting
they just want a hug thats all

I really liked 28 Days Later, not really as a horror flick but sort of getting in to the film and imagining the situation, I thought it was really good.

28 weeks later however, the story was just too farcical for me :(

True, but to me they fall into the "zombie" genre. It's all flesh-ripping, brain-eating fun.

...if you sit there and wait for them, yes.

28 Weeks Later could have been - and should have been - so much better than it was. Good premise; poor execution. A shocking waste of Robert Carlyle.

An Education - The coming of age in the early sixties, a delightful and highly enjoyable film. Carey Mulligan is wonderful and the film may pinch an Oscar.

Crash (2004). A savage and deeply moving film about the brutal oppression of white Americans by racist ethnic minorities in Los Angeles.

Watched John Carpenters The Thing again for the umpteenth time. One of my all time favourite films and some of the special effects still look better than many modern films even though its almost 30 years old now.

Yes, and if that ratty little bitch didn't go running around London just to visit their old house then none of that **** would have happened! :(

Deliver Us From Evil. Excellent documentary about the systematic sexual abuse of children throughout Catholic parishes in the USA, with particular reference to Oliver O'Grady, the notorious Irish paedophile who was protected by the Church for years despite raping and molesting dozens of children. One of his victims was a 9 month old girl.

Difficult to watch at times, particularly the interviews with Oliver O'Grady himself.
