What film did you watch last night?

The Summit. Gruelling documentary about the 2008 K2 disaster, during which controversial Irish climber Gerard McDonnell abandoned other climbers in a failed attempt to save himself. 11 people died in a single day.

8/10.

This is on Netflix. I watched it on your recommendation. Probably a 7 from me but interesting and thought provoking nonetheless. Thanks.

Saw - 7/10

Finally got around to watching this and was pleasantly surprised! I thought it was a slasher film, so my expectations were all out of whack....which is probably why I enjoyed it :) No, I won't be watching any of the sequels!

Great film, brilliant in the cinema!

Inherent Vice. Good, but strange. Like The Big Lebowski crossed with LA Confidential. A bit surprising when Belladonna (big league porn star, for the uninitiated) turns up in it.

Gotta be honest, I love Weird Science, but I watched it recently and it really hasn't aged well.
Kelly is fit as ****, the bar scene is still awesome and Bill Paxton is Bill Paxton, so there's that at least.

I watched "Chappie" this evening, which was good, enjoyable and a few bits I didn't see coming. The "Chappie" robot was quite nicely designed and it's motions/look worked well I thought.

Probably a 7/10, it may go up or down when I get round to watching it again and see the alternate ending.

Reasonable Doubt. Gritty crime thriller starring that famous black actor (the one who isn't Morgan L. Freeman).

7/10.

The Great Martian War. A fantastic little mocumentary, and arguably the most historically accurate thing you'll see on the History Channel this decade. :p

8/10.

Everest...8/10

Watched it mainly because I have my cineworld card and wanted to see something and this was the only thing on that mildly interested me. Really glad I did.

It was emotional and gripping, cinematography was beautiful and a strong cast. Showed how quickly it could all go wrong at the highest point in the world.

Did a bit of reading afterwards and was surprised to find that bodies are never retrieved from Everest, are just left there....I guess as a "are you sure you want to do this" warning to others.

Wow, I never knew they made a movie of this!... And now I'm seeing it is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson with Joaquin phoenix as doc.

I know what I'm watching next!

Fargo

Not watched this for some time and wanted to give it another go since watching the new TV series. Typically Coen brothers black comedy thriller, with usual shocking violence, choice score and fantastic casting. It's bleak but fascinating and the cross references in the TV series sub-plot are great.

8/10 - rightfully placed in the National Film Registry.

An excellent film 8/10 in total agreement. A classic for sure

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Getting more into documentaries, but find them hard to rate compare to a linear story. All I have to say is that the premise of watching sushi for 80+ minutes didn't seem too appealing at first, but it's had quite an unexpected effect on me about work ethic, and having a certain outlook on life in general... and I'm not even that big of a fan of sushi :p

I'll have to watch that.

I assume we are in agreement that Sixteen Candles is terrible?

I think Sixteen Candles was worse than Breakfast club from memory - although I've only seen them once and my viewing of Breakfast Club was interrupted constantly.

Ferris Buellers day off and Weird Science were great.

I'm currently trying to watch Oculus which seems reasonable so far, but I'm getting interrupted about every 5-10 minutes.

The pyramid. What an utter **** film, 3/10 and that's only for her in her underwear.
Rubbish story, worse acting and terrible CGI.

Tt3d closer to the edge, great dice film about 2010 TT 9/10
