What film did you watch last night?

Yeah, it was awesome.

A "Pornographic, consumerist hate filled piece of propaganda" if memory serves :D

If it's that bad I fancy watching it just to see how bad it really is! Resisted the urge so far...

I think "pornographic" is a good term to describe the movie, not that it is porn but more that it's all surface and no substance to it. It's just a movie of pretty, rich people partying for 90mins.

It's a waste of time of a film but I wasn't bored by it as I've seen the tv show.

The problem for me is not the actual film content as such - it was an 'ok' way to wrap up a very good TV series (for me at least), but it really didn't need to. The TV series was fine all on its own but the people behind the movie thought they could squeeze a bit more juice from the cash-cow and that alone tainted the experience for me. It was a lazy effort and could/should have been much better. That bothered me much more than Kermode's frankly ridiculous assertion that it was 'Satire without the satire'.

You are right, I didn't mind the ending of the series, everything tied up like a neat little bowl. The film is unnecessary for any of the characters, it didn't say anything that the series hasn't already said and said it better.

I agree that The Lobster had a much weaker 2nd half, but it was still very good. I gave it a 7 iirc, which in my system is a 'very good, but not Oscar worthy'.

e: Thinking about it, The Oscars are ridiculous so perhaps I shouldn't use that to determine which films are fab :p

Just got back from watching Creed.

Very much enjoyed it. Not as good as Rocky I & II (IMO) but still very good indeed.

Have you seen Southpaw? How would you rate them against each other?

Just saw The Reverent 9/10, could have been 15 minutes shorter however very very gripping despite the lack of dialogue for 2 hours 40 minutes. The bear scene and first war scene was just amazing.

12 Angry Men
9.5 / 10
Superb

I knew I shouldn't have watched this a few weeks ago as I've now been called up for jury service :D
