What film did you watch last night?

The Amazing Spider Man 2. Found it to be a bit disappointing compared to The Amazing Spider Man 1, which in my opinion was the best of all the Spider Man films. Would give it a 6/10. Not very well directed and the villains were pretty laughable.

Legend 9/10

Excellent. How it only got 61% on RT I don't know. Tom Hardy superb as ever. His deeper voice as Ronnie reminded me of his character in Peaky Blinders and also in Batman.

I've not seen a single Fast and Furious film and I don't think I ever will. They all look like terrible no-brain involved explosion fests. No thank you.

It's blinkered to dismiss a movie or TV show you've never watched.

I've seen all of them, most of them at the cinema. They'll never win a critics award but I enjoy them for what they are. With a movie critic head on, the first movie is the best. Four onwards are typical modern franchise creations.

F&F franchise is decent, even the least liked of them all, 3rd, I enjoyed. They are never going to be Oscar contenders but it's entertaining, it follows the same formula, action, odd joke and more action.

Because nothing happens. There's two hours of middle with no beginning or end. The gay one acts weird and they both kick a few heads in. That's all that happens. Boring.

Crystal Skulls 0/10

What can I say. SyFy made-for-tv film. Appalling acting. Awful script. Science that makes no sense whatsoever.
Favourite bit: When US soldiers attempt to stop the overloading crystal skulls by shooting at them.
Oh, and I learned that in the world of this film, one starts the engines on a large transport helicopter with what appears to be a small petrol generator with a pull-cord.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I like the fantastical setting. I think it does a good job conveying the idea of a world where Wonka is a worldwide phenomenon and mystery, and then the wonder of his factory.

What we do in the shadows

A fake documentary about a group of flatsharing vampires in New Zealand. It's a setup that suggests this is going to be a bad film. It isn't. Cleverly worked, with a keen eye on it's lack of budget it's warm, witty and often laugh out loud funny.

8/10

Equilibrium

In the dark future, feelings are banned! Somewhere under this film, if you squint funny, there's a clever satire trying to get out. Unfortunately it's buried under the dire script, the utter inconsistency of the plot (angers an emotion!) and such stupidity as the Gun Kata which makes the stylishly shot fight scenes utterly absurd.

One to avoid: 2/10

I saw the first fast and furious I wish I could be the guy you were responding to when you said that, there is nothing blinkered in ignoring trash.

Iron Sky

The Nazis weren't defeated in 1945 they fled to.... THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON! The movie is keenly aware of how absurd it's premise is but somehow managed to drum up what looks to be a pretty high filming budget. It's just tongue-in-cheek enough to make it all an enjoyable satirical romp rather than either just bad or so-bad-it's-good.

The only good bit is the fight with father at the end where he's trying to get a shot on him but he keeps batting his hand away.

Great, but the first isn't trash. It's competently made, and it makes sense.

I went to see the first on the premise that it had a modern parallel with point break, to say that the fast and the furious falls way short of point break is a massive understatement.

A franchise designed for people who like cars more than film IMHO.

I thought it was better than point break precisely because it distils everything down to the cars. Point break was muddled because there's too much extreeeeeeme stuff, like the parachuting and what have you. Fast and furious sticks to one thing and it's cleaner for it.

Don't get me wrong, it falls way off after the first, but the first is a solid piece of work.

That is your opinion and you are welcome to it, for me and getting back to if the fast and furious is trash.

6.7 on IMDB flatters the fast and the furious imho
Characters flatter than a pancake, poorly acted/scripted, action nowt special.

Just back from the cinema seeing Creed, enjoyed the film, liked the long shots during the fight scenes, also enjoyed the use of actual boxers (even if I'm not a fan of some of them...cough bellew cough lol)

Spectre.

Ruined from the moment Sam Smith opens his window licking/lispy voice.

Monica Belluci is nice to look at.

3/10.
