What film did you watch last night?

I'm not usually one to be shocked by a movie but that film was very uncomfortable to watch. It wasn't so much the aunt or her actions but more the action/inaction of the other children that was really chilling.

The Girl Next Door - 2007 (Not the one with Elisha Cuthbert in, but Jack Ketchum's film about teen/family abuse).

Very very shocking movie, and very upsetting at the same time, it delivers a powerful message to the viewer about brutal and sexual abuse. Although I thought the film was quite hard hitting, it was made really well, it certainly gets the message across and quite disturbing to watch.

I would give this film a 8/10

Shutter Island

DiCaprio really has grown well as an actor from his early teen brat image of Titanic. The film isn't really a horror as most people (including me) thought it would be after seeing the trailer. From a directorial point of view the film is pretty much spotless as you would expect coming from a heavyweight such as Scorsese. Unfortunately I figured out the big plot twist from very early on SPOILER
when they just got into the office of the head psychiatrist and he asked for some aspirin and they produce the little white cup that you see patients take their medicine in
It does appear to be a very intelligent piece of work and I'm looking forward to seeing it on DVD with the ability to pause and rewind it as it was full of little clues and double takes and single frames being cut into action on almost subliminal level.

Where Eagles Dare - 8/10 I haven't watched it from start to finish, for years. Convoluted, over the top Nazi killing mayhem. Brilliant. :D
Survival of the dead..
New Romero zombie film.. nothing out of the ordinary really 5/10

Christ! He's not still pumping those out. :(
Clash of the Titans.

What a pile of ****. The 3D was so poor I had a headache very quickly, the acting was dire, Sam Worthington was acting like Medusa had turned him to stone before the filming started, the action was average and there seemed to be a lot of film missing. Huge leaps from one part of the journey to the next made it seem that a longer film had been hacked to bits.

What a pile of ****.

0/10

Not recommended then... :D

Though I usually start frothing at the mouth with re-makes and the like, I kinda hope some of them, including this one, would work out all right.

I watched the Quatermass Experiment (1955). Always loved the Quatermass films when I was growing up (plus I am a big fan of b&w B movies).

I'm not generally a fan of remakes, but I think The Quatermass films and character are ripe for a modern remake.

Just watched 'Changeling' brought it at X-mas and finally got round to watching it. I wasn't really expecting much but it turned out to be very gripping and a little moving too. Quite long at almost 2 and a half hours but there was never a dull part or any peice where I began to loose interest.

Deffinatley worth a watch. Brilliant performance by Angelina Jolie too. 9/10.

Avatar. (DVDscr). Already saw it in 3D three times (2 of them IMAX). Can't wait for Blu-Ray. Love the ability to pause anytime and lap up the visuals

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Really enjoyed it. I think possibly a must see for fans of the book. Most key moments were they and were played brilliantly. Some pretty harrowing and shocking scenes though (people who've read the book will know which ones).
I like subtitled films and I think it is better with subs rather than have it American actors or whatnot.

9/10 :)

Yep, action/inaction of the other kids, plus the aunt for egging them on so to speak. Iv got the other movie based on this story to watch as suggested by someone on here called "An American Crime" if you havnt seen it.

Tonight iv watched the aviator with leo decaprio, I watched it more for the aviation side of things tbh, although it was ok, didnt do much for me im afraid although Kate Beckinsale is always nice to look at :)

5/10

Im just about to watch a film called "The mark of cain - 2007" which is based around British Soldiers in Iraq

EDIT: Just watched The Mark of Cain, didnt really do much for me to be honest, just felt like one long soap drama that should have been made for tv episodes, not much action and some slight "unrealness" to it all. Got the actor from Shameless in it and also one of the rough blokes from "Greenstreet - "Im bovva init the cockney hard nut"

4/10

House of the Devil - made in the style of an 80's horror - 7/10

Zombiland - fun zombi film - 7/10

Watched The taking of Pelham 123 - was a decent enough movie but I was expecting the plot to be a bit deeper, so yeah, shallow plot but good acting etc.

Men who stare at goats - 3/10. Good acting and photography but way the plot was adapted from the book sucked monkey nuts.

Twilight - New Moon - 6/10, above average and follows on nicely from the the first but you can guess the plot and the fact this will have another instalment. There's a few 'too emo' moments for my liking but will go down well with the intended audience..

I'll add one that I know backwards:

Good Night and Good Luck - 10/10, seriously good film in terms of acting, directing, plot and of course a true story.
