What film did you watch last night?

In The Heart of the Sea. 4/10.

Pretty awful but gets some points for some great visuals. I've read a book about the incident before and this film was almost complete fiction.

Ok, I have a problem.

I went to see LA LA LAND for the 3rd time in technically 5 days.

The cinema was half full and what must be about 90% pensioners, it seems every head in the crowd had grey hair. But by the second song I saw a young couple walking out, they must not have know this is a musical.

Anyway, I enjoyed this as much as the 3rd time and just reinforced my prediction of this being Best Movie at the Academy awards. (although the bloke 2 seats down said as soon as the light comes up "that's 2 hours I'll never get back).

Can't please everyone I guess.

Still 9.9/10 for me, although the clunky dancing in parts I am actually starting to like, the silhouette dancing in the stars during the planetarium scene are not them but body double, and I think if Gosling and Stone had those dancing skills it wouldn't be as good strangely.

Someone posted a while back about "Triangle", a film I have had in my watchlist for a while, so decided to give it a watch and was not disappointed, well worth a look.

Also tonight I watched "Backtrack" with Adrien Brody, took a wee while to see where it was going but it is another cracker of a film.

Assassins Creed - 4/10...just OTT visuals and audio and a stupid plot, not even the might Bassfender could save it. Had I been watching on Netflix it would have been switched off, might disappointing.

Yes i'm aware it's based on a game, doesn't mean I want to watch what looked like game footage on the screen for 2 hours.

Ray -first step to recovery is to admit you have a addiction. :D Go to a AA meeting to meet others who overdosed on La LA Land.

Lol I would have been that guy not realising it was a musical. Glad I just read these comments as I was going to watch it this weekend. I can't stand musicals so will give it a miss :) alternatives are a bit lean at the moment :/

XXX: Return of Xander Cage (2017) - 6/10

Entertaining and fun, but too many things get in the way of having a lot more fun.

There are too many throw away characters (including some unnecessary “XXX’s”), the story is simple, weak and predictable, and some of the dialogue & love scenes are too corny.

However, it truly captures the “XXX” style - the stunts and fight scenes look great, there’s plenty of fast paced action going on, and from the start, the film knows how silly it is, and as such, there are some great tongue-in-cheek moments.
