What film did you watch last night?

How on earth can this be surprising... as in, how can you think anyone could not pick up on it?

It was a better film than I think you're giving it credit for, was it amazing, nope, was it bad, nope. The whole film is sinister but has comedic parts, sinister films can't be funny? You can't add comedy and tragedy? Your whole stance on this film is absurd. You're surprised people missed something which was actually a main plot point and no one missed at all.. and you're upset a film isn't just a comedy or only sinister?

The problem with the movie was the mismatched tone...One minute you're meant to connect with the him feel is plight and then the other you are meant to forgive his actions for being lonely..While we get scenes of jolly abandon mixed with pseudo emotion.

Films can be darkly funny...But this is not a dark comedy...Its a mess. The script is quite frankly ludicrous. The exposition silly and condescending. The plot holes ridiculous,

Its basically JL, CP and Laurence Fishburn picking up a Pay cheque

Don't mention the ending...Andy Garcia :p

Sorry but the things you're saying are mismatched... aren't. Yes you are supposed to feel for him being lonely and yes, you can forgive him for his actions..... because he was insanely lonely. Fishburn asked how long he had been alone. You're not talking about being in your house for a year like a shut in with the internet, tv, etc. You're talking about being completely and entirely alone and yes, he fought himself to not do it because he knew it was wrong but he was so desperate he couldn't not. That isn't mismatched, that is literally matched... they are both part of the same thing.

What you seem to be saying was, it wasn't black and white, the film didn't say hate or love him, it said here is what he did, you decide if it was terrible or not. There is nothing wrong with that.

Green Room - 7/10.

A good watch. Some shocking violence, very realistic. Good little film.

Saw Fast 8 the other day and agree with the review above :p

Rogue One 8/10

Finally got around to seeing it. And my god, what a film! Well paced, good casting, the robot was amazingly sarcastic and funny. I completely lost it with the "Are you kidding me?! I'm blind!!"

The action was excellent along with the visuals and I liked how it didn't have your "typical" ending. :)

I saw this last night and probably enjoyed it a little less than you, although I liked that it was brave with it's ending. I think I felt that it lacked any real character or plot depth, although I suppose what could it do, but enjoyed it for what it was. If it wasn't a Star Wars film would it have been as well received?

Also saw The Wailing....an OK Korean horror film, not amazing but not terrible....also not particularly horrific.

One thing I was shocked at is that JL got paid $20m and Chris Pratt $12m. I mean, I liked the film but that much?! Absolutely insane money for something that obviously wasn't going to be a massive hit or the start of a franchise, etc. Plus I don't even find them all that great at acting to begin with...

I wonder how much Andy Garcia received just for turning up for a few seconds. :p

Just got back from watching F&F8 , still the typical brain out action film with cheesy one liners and over the top action. If you enjoyed the previous ones like this it's ticked all the boxes again.

Enjoyable even though massive cringe in places.

Movies like this lean heavily on the fact its based in the same universe. They know because its related to Star Wars, it was going to be very popular by default. I think as a standalone action film, it still worked well though. The obvious references to the incoming Star Wars movies were a nice touch as well!

Fast & Furious 8 (2017) - 6/10

Enjoyable and entertaining in a mindless way, and comical towards the end, which was a nice surprise.

The film does take a while to get good, as it is very ham fisted and heavy in its delivery of dialogue, atmosphere and plot points, and the story itself is uninspired and predictable.

Almost all of the stunts are unrealistically over-the-top with lots of explosions, but there are also plenty of cars, inventive chase scenes and fast action both in and outside the vehicles.

The cast are a good mix of old favourites, new faces and cameos, but all are basically caricatures.

Last night - Beauty and the Beast (1991). Absolute classic. As good as flawless from start to finish.

Tonight - Star Trek Beyond. Silly accents galore. Total waste of Idris Elba. Karl Urban on large ham duty. Next to no interesting characters. Maguffin plot. Relentless CGI. Nonsense.

No everythung I have said is true...

Passengers is not worthy of any more debate....it's instantly forgettable :p

Plenty more explanation on the net if you're are struggling with it :p

Fast & Furious 8 - while I know this movie is riddled with cheesy one liners and massive over the top action scenes and insane unrealistic plot. I absolutely loved it. :D Simply switch off and enjoy.

I will be honest, going into this movie I was worried for the franchise as it's a new director and I prayed to be at the very least on par with the Justin Lin films. (Yes Looking at you Paul W Anderson and we haven't forgiven or forgotten). I was pleasantly relieved to find I had nothing to worry, just when you think it couldn't get bigger or better, they somehow find a way to not only top it but squeeze all the characters and extend the F&F "family". Quite clever in a way. Good performances with the usual crew and add the Rock and young Eastwood junior and you have a pretty good combination of characters to cover all bases.

I know others will think, here he goes again with the over the top generous scoring but for me it ticked all boxes and this 2 hour emotional roller coaster sped by. Perhaps the best one yet, thoroughly enjoyed it. 9/10.

Couple of films the last day or so.

Doctor Strange 7/10
Decent film, enjoyed watching it. Largely typical marvel plot.

La la land 2/10
Drivel.

The fly (1958) 8/10
As a fan of old horror & scifi films I've always liked this one.

I am scared I may have built it up too much :p (hence the backlash it received later on)

I enjoyed it. But its story is thin on the ground. The Opening sequence got me all "Grease" ready and then it all just "lacked lustre" :p

Amazing cinematography :)

I have read nothing, seen nothing, about this movie and it is a tad arrogant in its "ownership" of jazz...

It was slightly highbrow and "teachy" for me...( I love Frank Zappa) so sort of disengaged me somewhat.

Yeah..ok 8/10 (i'm glad movies like this are still getting made)
